Candians are discussing getting rid of the penny as its value has decreased too much
They are considering replacing it with the US nickel.

Heard on the Rick Mercer Report the other night.

I find it useful to have for exact change ($1.58) for the Tim Horton's extra-large double-double. Otherwise, not so much. I have a mountain of them in a very large jar.

The main opponent to getting rid of the penny was the empty jar lobby.
