I desperately need you guys to help!

We are going to lose our progressive talk station here in San Diego. AM1360-KLSD is going to flip to YET ANOTHER Sports-talk station at the end of October.

San Diego is the 6th largest radio market in the country. Our local morning show is one of the best. Stacy Taylor, who sits in for Randi Rhodes,
is more like family to us than a radio host. If we do not have our station, we will lose our progressive community. Stacy ALWAYS helps us when we need to get something done regarding our political issues. He makes sure that if there is a war protest or any other sort of rally, to give the times and dates over and over and urges all of us to be an active participant in our Government.

What is going on is a pattern

They cannot (the suits that is) afford to have these radio stations on the air.

It is not about the money, and Stacey told us exactly why the last one.

IF they cannot meeet payroll it is the worst managed station in history

It is politics pure and simple.

They are trying to kill a nascent political movement

And it is worst than that

It is proof, if anybody needed it, that we need to break these damn monopoliies to small organizations where you cannot own more than two stations in a market, PERIOD

That alone would solve the CC problem

9. Unfortunately I was out of town last Friday.

So I couldn't make it to the rally. I'm a regular caller, and I've made a point of using the services of advertisers when I could; Corkey's tented my house and I went to Paramount Equity for my refi. I even listened to The Rant With Scooter on the weekends...actually went out and bought a wireless headphone so I could listen while I got my chores done.

Maybe it's time to head over to Blackie's Blackwater Saloon, squeeze off a few rounds and drink some beers. :D

18. We are doing everything we can - considering all options -

It is just that - to try to use a college, it must be not for profit - That means no ads - that means no way to pay anyone. I don't think that our local talent can live for long on "talent" alone.

About fundraising... How long should I and my friends here in San Diego fundraise? We can not be full time fundraisers - we all have families and jobs. We are going to lose our Air America people - Mike Malloy, Randi Rhodes etc... Clear Channel is not losing money - KLSD makes money... They say (I don't know if I believe them) that another sports channel here will earn MORE money. The last time they flipped a station to sports talk it failed.

We know they don't give a rats ass about us as people - but they do notice when we email them and tell them we are going to boycott the advertisers on the right-wing station KOGO (across the hall from KLSD) - we will not buy anything from someone who pays to advertise on Roger Hedgecock's show or Rush Limbaugh's thing they call information. We will do our best to not buy anything advertised on any Clear Channel station - San Diego is about 50% Progressive - this means The Democrats make up the bulk of that 50% and the rest are Green and Independents - Why should half the population lose their only voice?

We are in need of help from all of the Democratic Community.

Please get people to email Clear Channel and point out the things I've listed here.
