Important question about Al Gore and Hillary Clinton.
At 5:00pm, Al Gore started sprinting from Nashville to Washington, DC, traveling at an average rate of 56 mph. An hour later, Hillary Clinton started sprinting from Iowa to Washington, DC, on the same incredibly long jogging trail, traveling at an average rate of 50 mph. If they were initially 215 miles apart, at what time do Al Gore and Hillary Clinton pass each other?

13. lets see
first hour al gore travels 56 m
second hour assuming gore and hillary are running towards each other in a straight line they travel 106 miles closer to each other so by the end of hour number 2 they are 106+56=162
so the distance they ahve to travel is 215 by the end of the second hour they only have to travel 215-162= 53 so if they travel 106 mph towards each other it should only take a half hour for the total miles traveled to equal 53. so total travel time is 2.5 hours and if we are going by the same time gore started when he started traveling it will be 7:30.

9. Is there a train involved somewhere?
Maybe it's just that I naturally picture a train wreck when I imagine Mrs. Clinton's nomination.

10. If there's a wreck of any kind, Al Gore would be involved, too.
At least according to this rather important question.

11. Well I know where they both started.
And I know which direction they're going.

And to me, it looks like they'll never meet or pass.

They're going in opposite directions. Gore's taking the long way.

12. Hrmm... a math problem oozing with opportunities to politicize.
;)

Actually, did you notice that Al Gore is traveling 6 mph faster than Hillary, on average?

16. Yes, but they're trying to keep people from noticing.
Also, I think you'll discover that Al likes going fast when nobody's around. So it's hard to assess where he really stands in this race.

Until Gore climbs aboard a quickly receding glacier, and makes up the difference.
