Rep. Issa (R) Calif. basically says "Fuck You" to mothers of murdered contractors in Iraq.
Last week, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee held hearings probing the work of U.S. contracting firms in Iraq. The committee heard testimony from four women whose family members were killed by insurgents in Fallujah in 2004, then burnt, dragged through the streets, and hung from a bridge. The women described how the contractor BlackwaterUSA has refused to give them information about the deaths of their loved ones to cover up its own errors.

Almost immediately, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) went on the offense, telling the women, “I don’t think your testimony today is particularly germane to the oversight of this committee.” He added, “One question I have is, the opening statement, who wrote it?”

The women responded to Issa’s attack, explaining that it was a “compilation of all four of us.” But other members came to their defense. Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) said, “I think clearly the implication was that somehow these wonderful women couldn’t possibly have written that wonderful, heartfelt testimony and that it took a lawyer in order to put it together, and I resent that very much.” Rep. Stephen Lynch (D-MA) added, “I’ve only sat through several hundred, maybe 1,000 hearings, and that is the first time as a member of Congress that I have heard any witnesses asked who wrote their opening statements.”

1. ah,
he's still bitter from having led the recall against Gray Davis, then having Arnold swipe the governorship out from under him.

He's a bitter man.

2. Indeed. He basically said "fuck you" to most of California, except
for the sore losermen who didn't like it that Gray Davis won reelection fair and square. And then he cried like an infant when forced to pull his name out of the ring in the recall election. After he'd put up the money to bankroll the recall to begin with! Poetic justice. Arnold came along and snatched it from under his nose. And he bawled like a toddler who'd just had his lollipop stolen.

4. Want some sugar, Darrell?
Here's my email to Rep. Issa:

Sir,

I will try and keep this civil, but could you have been a bigger jackass today during your comments to the Blackwater women? I can't imagine who advised you that this would be a wise strategy...or did you decide to do this on your own?

These people deserve to know the circumstances behind their lost loved ones' deaths. What if your brother was a contractor who was killed in Iraq? You must be devoid of empathy, sir.

Please do the right thing and give these women their due.

Joanie Baloney

Felt good :)

10. Not good enough....
I'm not "valuable" enough for Darrell, I guess. I got this auto-response from his office:

Unfortunately, our records indicate that you do not reside within the 49th Congressional District of California. Due to the overwhelmingly large number of emails that our office receives, I am not able to reply to emails from outside of the 49th district. If you feel that you have received this message in error, and that your residence is in the 49th district, please write to me by U.S. mail at:

Representative Darrell Issa
211 Cannon House Office Building,
Washington, D.C. 20515

Hee hee - now I'm going to send this to MY Rep. Susan Davis. She answers all mail...whether you're in her district or not!

Happy VD all (and thanks for the welcome!)

JB

13. And, here's my email to Rep. Susan Davis
Man this feels good!

Dear Rep. Davis, I was sickened by Darrell Issa's behavior today while questioning the 4 Blackwater USA relatives. He was rude, condescending and totally without empathy. I wrote his office telling him what I thought. In a few minutes, I received an automatic reply telling me in part that since I didn't reside in his district he would be unable to respond to my inquiry. First of all, I would like to thank you for always being responsive and accessible. Secondly, it would be wonderful if you commented on Rep. Issa's behavior next time you have the opportunity. Thank you for your service to our district.

Sickened I tells ya....sickened! :puke:

8. Yes, I watched the hearing and he was
despicable. Thanks for posting this. I hope Californians in his district start seeing the truth of whom this Repig is and what he stands for. He doesn't have any decency. I wish some investigative reporters would dig up some dirt on him and publish it before the next election. I'm sure there is plenty of shady dealings out there by him if you look under the right rocks.

9. He's a Hit Man
I have noticed that he shows up and lobs a few stinkbombs and then evacuates the room. What an asshole.

He did the same thing to the scientists speaking out about climate change and the current administration's attempts to silence them.

Just a cold, maladjusted jerk.

Vanlassie
