Does anyone know of a "quicken" for Linux - I love Ubuntu and that is the only thing I still use on
Windows.

Ubuntu is easy to pick up on - including all the office equivalents - than even Apple - and 10 times easier and more user friendly than Windows. I was amazed as it found the web with no set up by me - likewise finding my email and downloading it into its version Outlook - call "evolution" with no setup by me was also amazing (it asked for my password to my mail account and then we were setup!). Plus it reads NTFS and FAT drives and files and uses all my docs and other data files from Windows.

It is truly amazing - heck of a difference from setting up V6 UNIX in 76 or UNIX S3 in 79 -

Now I just want to complete my journey back to the light and leace windows forever - but I need a Quicken clone. Or is there a virtual windows program that I can run Quicken with?

1. You should post this in the computer support forum.
My stand a better chance of getting an answer there, if nobody does here. As for me, I have no Linux experience yet because I'm a gamer and therefore a slave to Bill Gate$. :(

2. Try WINE.

WINE (which stands for Wine Is Not an Emulator in typical recursive UNIX fashion) lets you run Windows programs on Linux. For more info, start here www.winehq.org.

I love Ubuntu as well (I use the Kubuntu variant). It's a bit trickier to set up on certain laptops (particularly if they have nonstandard screen resolution), and wifi setup can still be a bit clumsy, but overall it's a fantastic distro.

15. KDE is more of a Win2K experience.
It's got "Start Menu" and "Quicklaunch Toolbar" equivalents and generally feels more Windows-like. When I first started using Linux, the distro had KDE as standard, so I sort of got used to using it. I've tried Gnome a few times and like it alot, so I might make the switch one of these days.

17. It worked well except Quicken's new attach a name to a charge that is recurring is not
supported, nor is "cash" under a name called "cash" in an investment account -

so I have a bit of transaction assigning to do (95% going into my checking account) and relative to the total count of transactions it is just a handful (under 50).

5. Just asked hubby and he said you could run
VMware and run Windows OS within it. That would allow you to run the Windows version of Quicken.
He said you would need a Windows license for that. If you Google VMware, you should come up with some additional info.
