The Daily Show on Thursday took up President Bush's promise to veto a non-binding Congressional resolution condemning the Armenian Genocide. "This resolution is not the right response to these historic mass killings," Bush stated.

"What is the right response to historic mass killings?" asked Stewart. "Historic mass flowers?"

"To be fair," Stewart went on, "Bush is but the latest in a long line of presidents to placate Turkey by downplaying the whole Death of 1.5 Million Armenians thing. But this is a particularly delicate time."

He then played a clip of Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice saying, "The passage of this resolution at this time would indeed be very problematic for everything that we are trying to do in the Middle East."

"Question," said Stewart, raising his hand like a reporter at a news conference. "Uh, what are we trying to do in the Middle East?"

Stewart then turned to "senior Armeniologist" Aasif Mandvi, who told him, "I think the message here is clear. You help us with the war on terror. We'll see what we can do about your past."

2. catching sparks from the lake of fire...
2 million people died in the US part of Vietnam war. How many died in the US sponsored overthrow of Mossedegh in Iran, or Chile's Allende, or Guatamala; indeed the entire fascist reaction to anti imperialism in Soth America, or Africa, or anywhere? Using the term 'genocide' and scrolling back to when Turkey was part of Ottoman Empire pre dubya dubya 1, in order to condemn an atrocity that feeds modern anti muslim/pro xtian sentiments in order to increase hatred towards Iran, isn't something a tv comedy show should be doing. The Armenians hardly need to to be provoked. When the effect is contrived by busheviks and israeli activists like lieberman and foxnews etcs, Jon Stewart should stop trying to exploit the anti bush movement he's part of to attack the people's aspirations in Latin America (Chavez, Morales) or to promote israel's agenda vis Iran after the disaster in Iraq. God knows what the busheviks themselves are doing in secret to cause an Tonkin type incident w/out Stewrat creating chaos and confusion and arousing latent rage. To have the Turks and Armenians murdering each other is in anyone's interest?
