i mean, if it were me, i'd sure think that they(we) were even more nuts than i thought.
although- anything has to be better than a stark-raving fundy, hell-bent on triggering the armegeddon of revelations.

3. Wow... that's a bit harsh, isn't it?
If it were a Morman that believes in the separation between church and state AND the constitution, why would it be an issue (not saying that is the case with Romney) but....

11. That's the stigma....
and it's not going to go away quietly. The majority of people associate bigamy with Mormons and in light of all the Warren Jeffs' publicity, it'll be a stain on his campaign. He doesn't have a prayer.

9. his religion is his business. It's the same type of argument people made about JFK in '60

and his having a "pipeline to the Vatican" and "taking instructions from the Pope". There is enough to oppose Romney on rather than his religion. It's as bad as the posters who say Obama can't be elected because he's black and for his name!!

10. Do you think it would be that big of a deal?
The most annoyance I've had from the LDS church is when some missionaries tried to convert me and when an overzealous member decided she had the right to baptize my still living and very irate mother by proxy against her wishes. I don't think that a Mormon president would be taking orders from Salt Lake City any more than I thought JFK would be taking orders from the Vatican in 1960, though there were plenty who claimed that would happen. No, give me the individual's record and plans, and I'll vote the person, not their faith. And I think the world leaders will be looking at record and plans too, not whether the individual uses a rosary or listens to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

15. I'm going to lock this.
With regard to religion (or the lack thereof), Democratic Underground is a diverse community which includes Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus, Atheists, Agnostics, and others. All are welcome here. For this reason, we expect members to make an extra effort to be sensitive to different religious beliefs, and to show respect to members who hold different religious beliefs. Members are welcome to discuss whether they agree or disagree with particular religious beliefs, but they are expected to do so in a relatively sensitive and respectful manner. As a general rule, discussions about ideas are usually permitted, but broad-brush bigoted statements about groups of people — either religious or non-religious — are not.

When discussing race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, or other highly-sensitive personal issues, please exercise the appropriate level of sensitivity toward others and take extra care to clearly express your point of view.

Do not post messages that are bigoted against (or grossly insensitive toward) any person or group of people based on their race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, lack of religion, disability, physical characteristics, or region of residence.

best,
wakemeupwhenitsover
