Georgia Republican Congressman Norwood dies
He may have been a Repub, but he deserves our respects.

From CNN:

http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/02/13/norwood.obit.ap/index.html

Rep. Charles Norwood Jr., a seven-term Republican congressman from Georgia, died Tuesday after battling cancer and lung disease. He was 65.

Norwood died at his home in Augusta, Georgia, early Tuesday afternoon, his office said. The House interrupted debate on an Iraq war resolution for a moment of silence in his honor.

Norwood suffered from a chronic lung disease and later developed metastatic cancer that spread from his lung to his liver. He had declined further treatment last week and returned home to Georgia to receive hospice care. Norwood received a lung transplant in 2004.

Last year, doctors discovered a small cancerous tumor on his nontransplanted lung. They removed the cancer with surgery but then discovered more on his liver when Norwood returned to Washington after easily winning re-election in November.

In his State of the Union address last month, President Bush wished Norwood a speedy recovery.
