Romney Chooses to Announce in Museum Honoring Notorious Anti-Semite

“We are weary of the bickering and bombast, we’re fatigued by the posturing and self-promotion,” Mitt Romney said at The Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Mich.

Somehow it calls to mind Philip Roth's The Plot Against America, in which Henry Ford and other crypto-Nazis get Charles Lindbergh to run against FDR in 1940 in order to prevent the US entering WWII--and they succeed.

But this is probably just me.

1. It is an awesome museum, everything else aside.
It does look like an aeroplane is about to run over this flip-flopping carpetbagger though.

2. Is there a candidate yet who hasn't done or said something
really, really stupid? I say we wipe the slate clean and get rid of anyone who has already announced. Maybe we can find someone who can manage to keep their foot out of their mouth.

3. More of a museum built by an anti-semite than one honoring him
though I suppose he made it largely to honor himself.

It is a pretty cool place though. I don't think Mitt Romney has a chance in hell of taking Michigan regardless of where he announces though. He shouldn't even waste his time here.

8. Yes, but isn't he "from" Massachusetts now?
I mean he JUST left the governorship there. How odd not to announce in your "home state"! :eyes:

13. He's been living in Mass. for over 20 years.
He's definitely trying to avoid something. Maybe he's afraid of the new governor, Deval Patrick.

16. I'm just saying why he announced there (plus it has more delegates)
Edited on Tue Feb-13-07 05:23 PM by WI_DEM
I'm not trying to justify it. I guess he feels that while he might win the GOP primary in MA he won't carry MA in the November election.

He almost got kicked out of the Governor election due to his lack of residency credentials.

Mass. Dems have 'lovingly' referred to Mitt the Shit as "the drive by governor"...

9. Henry Ford was also a big proponent of eugenics and sterilization
of the "unfit". Many states passed such laws because of public support such as Ford's, and men and women were taken to court, found unfit to reproduce, and were compelled to have surgery without their knowledge in many cases. (This is America folks, not the Third Reich). Hitler was a great fan of Ford's policies, and had a photo of him in hanging on the wall of his inner office.

22. Are you from VA? The Lynchburg Training School (a few miles
from Jerry Falwell's church) is where the Supreme Court case was based. Carrie Buck was sterilized there with the blessings of Oliver Wendell Holmes.

He is utterly vapid and plastic. He is incapable of speaking off the cuff and I really believe that he's actually pretty stupid despite his "busines acumen."
