I can remember in 2000 believing a lot of what I was told about Gore. He was wooden, he exaggerated etc, etc. I was a sheeple then, mind you. I know now from watching him lately what a good man he is and how stupid all those memes were back in the day.
In 2004, when my candidate didn't make it out of the primaries, I was unenthusiastic to say the least about a man I'd heard had the personality of Styrofoam. I was just starting to wake up then, having found a few articles about Gitmo and such. Still about half-sheeple, though. It took quite a bit of research, checking books out of the library, reading articles and just watching the guy for me to first warm up to Kerry, then downright love the guy.
If you want a good site for dispelling the myths about BOTH men, have a look at the Daily Howler.
I haven't spent a lot of time staring at Hillary. I get snippets here and in the media. To one side, she's a Socialist, to the other she's Republican-lite. I'm not impressed yet, I have to admit. But then I wasn't impressed with Kerry at about this point last election time. And sadly I have a tendency to get my news in a drive by fashion, either here or on the radio or in the newspapers. Seldom more than a minutes at a time, and seldom with much depth.
So I'm left wondering how much of what I THINK I know about Hillary has been shaped by the media, and to some extent here, and how much would my attitude if I just stopped long enough to read a few books, articles, and spend some time really looking at her. In other words, I wonder what I know about her, and what I only THINK I know about her. You know what I mean?
So in the interest of deeper study, a request. I think I've done this before, but I don't think we had bookmarks then. Or maybe I just forgot to bookmark the thing.
A call to the Hillary supporters:
Some good books on or by Hillary please.
A second request:
What is it about her that makes you a supporter? What do you absolutely love about her?
Thanks
