Alberto Gonzales hires defense attorney
Posted on Wed, Oct. 10, 2007
By LARA JAKES JORDAN
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON -- Former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales has hired a high-powered Washington lawyer to represent him in investigations of mismanagement of the Justice Department.

George Terwilliger, a white-collar crime defense attorney and the Justice Department's No. 2 in the early 1990s, last month was on the White House's short list to replace Gonzales.

Now he'll be Gonzales' defender as federal investigators look into allegations that the former attorney general lied to lawmakers and illegally allowed politics to influence hiring and firing at the Justice Department.

In an interview Wednesday, Terwilliger said Gonzales maintains he did nothing wrong or illegal - and the fact he has hired an attorney should not signal any guilt.

Because a Dem president won't be giving Gonzo a pardon.

5. Gonzo is wasting his money, if indeed, he is paying for this.
There will never be any charges. Those would be a waste of money & time because Busholini would just pardon Gonzo. The key to all of this is Rove & Ms. Meirs. Will they ever be forced to testify Under Oath?

6. There's not enough time for a conviction and or legitimate pardon.

The key word is legitimate.

It's also difficult to pardon a person and at the same time claim there were no crimes committed.
