What would Gore vs. Clinton primary be like?
If Gore enters the race (and I am hoping he does) I think the primary might get strange. I don't think HRC will go down quietly. Right now I think she is in "play it safe" mode, convinced she can beat Obama and Edwards if she just doesn't screw up. Just keep that plastic smile on your face and keep rowing the boat...

But I think if Gore entered the race it could get interesting and possibly nasty. HRC might have to move out of safe mode.

The Clintons vs. Gores in the newest edition of Family Feud??

Personally I'd love to see Al call Hillary to task on some of the bad votes she's made as a senator, and other "issues" she has. Would he?

If he did, how would she fight back? More plastic smiles and evasive answers? Or more of an offensive hit on Gore?

Would all this be good for the country and/or the Dem party?

My 2 cents:
the "shakeup" would be welcome, and Gore would win (because he's right on the issues)

1. I'm not sure it would get nasty except in media circles.
The candidates would have too much to lose if they took it in that direction.

2. There's little evidence that he could beat her at this point.
Someone on DU recently posted a list of primary polls that have been done that included the possibility of a Gore run. His highest showing in any of them was 16%.

9. I think that was in August, before half the field dropped out.
I haven't seen anything more recent than that.

Besides, that's one state. How about the other 49? My point was that he's not going to win if he can't pull more than 16% nationally. His support on DU seems much greater than that of Democrats, in general.

15. I believe he was the Winner by a four-point margin, once someone becomes an actual candidate
it gets tougher.

Might do the same for liberals.

6. 100% agree
The Gore tidal wave would sweep across DU and the country. Hillary's Pres run would be history - though I could imagine her being offered the VP slot.

<sigh>

More wishful thinking....

19. Hillary as Gore's VP?

First, Hillary's ego is so huge she'd never have it.

Second, I don't think Gore would have it, after how the Clintons helped derail his first bid.

26. I hope we have a chance to debate this!
In reality, I would not care if he dissed Hillary for VP.

I'd just love to have an opportunity to debate the question of Al's running mate at all!!!

12. absogorelutely!..Du majority would be ecstatic!!..look he is the only one who
could and would hold these bastards in this white house accountable..even after they left office..that is why they want hillary..because they know she would let them walk away scott free! Just like Bill let papa bush walk away scott free..of his criminality.

Wh here would play golf or cards or anything ...with the same bastards who screwed you every way to kingdom come?

Gore would hold these bastards accountable...for their crimes.

Gore would put our constitution back the way it was written and re-establish our laws.

Gore would make Global warming a priority.

Gore would stop torture

Gore would end this war pronto

Gore would re-establish this country as a leader and partner to our allies..and not a thug nation!

Gore has brains and integrity, and is a moral leader.

10. LOL "Family Feud"
I think that Gore would remain above it. He has the ability to see the big picture and not wallow in petty grievances. That's one reason why we need him.

Hillary would pull out all the stops though.

Oh yeah, it would be fun....

13. Gore would "remain above it."
But he needs to speak the truth and make criticisms where appropriate. To beat Hillary he will have to point out some things like her vote for the war and the LIEberman Iran vote too. And he could point out that Clintons did basically nothing for renewable energy in 8 years they were in power.

And when he gets to the General election, He'll DEFINITELY need to fight back and go on the offensive occasionally. I've had enough of the "remain above it" losers like Kerry.

30. To clarify: ALL I meant was that Gore wouldn't get suckered into
pettiness and being goaded by the media into flailing around in the snake-pit over old personal rivalries and tensions. The media would just love to whip that up. Tweety's rotor would fall off.

OF COURSE he'd need to "speak the truth and make criticisms where appropriate'--do I need to say that about Gore? I think he'd have to go on the offensive against Hillary MORE than occasionally, because she'd fight hard. And I have no doubt he would, with precision and awesome self-control. Is that a better way to put it?

I guess Kerry has become the receptacle for all the bile against Democratic "wimps." So unfair.

Ask yourself why the times demand that our statesmen have to become Kung Fu fighters? Why does every political contest get turned into the Gladiators? Why are we even worried about how well our candidates can stomp & destroy their opponents? Because we live in a country where presidential elections are stolen, where we have no representation, where we have a compromised media, and where we are suffering under a regime of true criminals. But it's not normal or desirable in the end to have such extreme contentiousness.

Every Dem has to fight now. I think they know that, given the ruthless and lawless nature of our adversaries. But it makes people tense and mean and distracted when it goes beyond a certain level of civility. Gore has the ability to keep his eyes focused on the far horizon and fight the right battles.
And only the right battles.

18. Last poll I saw including him had
him at 12%.

Plus, he's >$60 million behind in the money game.

Those are two good reasons he won't run.

20. The numbers would change if he actually ran.
Most people don't even know that he may be thinking of running, and most people are disenchanted with the current choices on both sides.
If Gore announced, the media attention and the momentum would shoot his numbers through the roof.

23. '...two good reasons he won't run'
Nonsense.

12% because HE HASN'T EVEN ANNOUNCED YET.

$60 mil would be drop in the bucket for him should he announce. There'll be supporters coming out of the woodwork for him.

Mr. Tesha and I would certainly kick in our $2,300
each the moment he declared.
