The latest Iraq security incident/Why the word Christian?

I am getting exasperated with the news coverage on the latest security incident involving the horrible deaths of 2 Iraqi women. Why does the media feel it is necessary to keep identifying they as "2 Christian Iraqi women". Why does that make it more of a horrendous crime?

Clearly the message to the rest of the world is that the US does not give equal measure to non-christian civilian deaths in Iraq, furthering the idea that the US is involved in a crusade.

That Christian women would be less leilkely to be a suicide squad of some sort, intent on blowing themselves up to destroy a target.

6. IMHO the proper word would have been "unarmed"

unless you were trying to spread more paranoia that all non Christians are suicide killers therefore it is necessary to preemptively strike Iran.

reason that we highlight hate crimes against minorities here in the West. If a person is singled out because they are black, or gay, or interestingly enough muslim, it is due to their affiliation to a minority group.

Like it or not Christians are in the minority in the Middle East and are often the targets of muslim anger.
