I watched a minute or two of my local Fox News affiliate last night
Edited on Tue Feb-13-07 03:32 PM by trumad
and sat there stunned as the local guy explained how Iran was causing all the trouble in Iraq. He had charts, graphs--- he looked very convincing to the average Moran.

And then Fox local had a so-called expert from the Iran Study Group advocating that we go in and start killing high officials in the Iran Government. Scientists, etc. Like I said---I sat there stunned as the Fox news clowns shook their heads in agreement.

Here's the video: http://www.myfoxorlando.com/myfox/pages/News/Detail?contentId=2362172&version=1&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=VSTY&pageId=3.1.1

Today--- I read that University of Tennessee Law Professor and right-wing blogger Glenn Reynolds says "We should be responding quietly, killing radical mullahs and iranian atomic scientists, supporting the simmering insurgencies within Iran, putting the mullahs' expat business interests out of business, etc.

Basically, stepping on the Iranians' toes hard enough to make them reconsider their not-so-covert war against us in Iraq. And we should have been doing this since the summer 2003. But as far as I can tell, we've done nothing along these lines".

http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2007/02/13/assassination/index.html

Also: Evangelical Bush supporter and talk radio host Hugh Hewitt also favors Leader-ordered murders of Iranian civilians, as he chimes in to praise Reynolds' proposal.

This seems to be the new talking point of the right and it's down right scary.

1. It's logical and scary at the same time
We may not actually have the army to invade - but we have to do something to teach them a lesson (I guess). Plus it lets Republicans look tough without having to actually risk anything.

4. Then I guess it would be logical and scary for the Iranians...
to do the same to us, to teach us a lesson.

9. Well that's the thinking behind 9/11, no?
I don't want to make it sound like I think it's logical in an absolute sense - just that's it's logical once you start from their warped perspective.

14. Are you saying you believe 'we have to do something to teach them a lesson'?

18. Curse my brevity
I am saying that once you accept the warped logic that we have to do something to teach them a lesson (along with certain other Republican delusions), than the assassination gambit flows pretty logically.

3. My local Faux affiliate makes the National faux network look like bleeding heart liberals.
This is the scariest part of the faux 'dynasty'. The local people fly under the radar and get away with all kinds of propaganda.

7. What I was stunned about was how they were lying through their teeth.
Today, General Pace said there is no evidence...do you think they'll report that tonight? Hell no.

12. The frightening thing about the local channels is that a LOT of people watch them
No cable needed. My local affiliate comes on at 9:00 pm so many people watch it because it's an hour earlier than our other news broadcasts.

5. "Conservatives" have conveniently forgot why we went to Iraq
bush's lie of course, but it was about WMD, not Iran. If "conservatives" touch it, it will be fucked up and there will be no apologies coming from the fuckers. Iran, Iran, Iran. The latest rallying cry. What will it be in six months?

10. It's pretty interesting to venture in and find out what is in their reality
I ran across the same thing last week on Hannity and Colmes-they were talking about comments made by a NBC (enemy #1) reporter. I never did hear what it was that he supposedly said but Hannity and Ollie North were sure that it would hurt the troops (read:unamerican) Colmes offered a very short explanation that whatever this guy said it was said before he worked for NBC.

I had never heard of the guy or of the supposed "Controversy" about his quotes...or his qotes for that matter.

It is very strange in that world.

It is the "New Truth"

You know how this works
They begin it somewhere
Talk radio blabs on it
A RW "newspaper" posts an article or an op/ed on it
Fox News picks it up
The MSM carries it to appease their owners er I'm sorry to draw in viewers oh I'm sorry to not be called liberal
Talk radio stays on it until it is considered fact.

11. I hope the Iranians are paying attention to these big mouths.
People in the middle east in general have long memories and a passion for vengeance. The ass clowns calling for this may some day get a taste of their own medicine.

15. Wait a minute...
We've got an administration that thought RV's were mobile weapons labs.
They also though that aluminum tubes used for industrial purposes were for building
nuclear bombs. Furthermore, they assured us that the weapons of mass destruction
were in the north, east, south and west of Baghdad.

Are these the same clowns that we're trusting to be accurate on Iran?

We bought swampland from these thugs once. Let's not do it again.

17. During the cold war
that kind of crap was what we were taught to believe were the Communist KGB ways of doing things. We have turned into what we loathed and feared since Bush has been in office. How can we be proud of our country when this is the way they operate. The rendition flights, the torture, the secret plans to sneak into other nations and knock off leaders. Frank Church is no doubt whirling in his grave. I have zero respect for Bush and Cheney. They need investigated, tried and convicted. Then they should have their American citizenship revoked. They are ruining my country!
