Author of "The Evangelical President" says Bush's religion drives liberals crazy
Bill Sammon on Washington Journal this morning. :spank:

Bush has acted as a hypocrite and liar, and not in the tradition of Jesus and his followers. It's the hypocrisy and phoniness of Bush that is mocked by liberals.

1. In a way, he's right...
...in precisely the same way Pharisees drove Jesus crazy.

Has spent the last 6 years as a shill for Dear Leader, while masquerading as a reporter. Cred Quotient=<0.

7. Zero credibility. This is my first time seeing the guy
and I thought he was approaching the topic as an unbiased observer but his blind love for Bush is so obvious right now.

12. Bush's craziness drove him to religion. Cart and Horse, you know. Crazy first, see god second!
Only when everyone in a culture accepts the craziness can the cart come before the horse on this one.

6. Duh!
When the supposed leader of the free world believes the universe is only 6000 years old, and believes in imaginary sky-people, then there is ample cause for concern about Dubya's mental stability, given his propensity to screw up everything he touches.

33. Actually, we don't believe in "imaginary sky people"
Do you honestly believe the vast majority of Americans believe in "imaginary sky people"? If that's the God that you don't believe in, then I don't believe in it either. As a Catholic, I can positively tell you that that's not what we believe in.

35. I was a catholic -- had nuns for 12 years
I bought into the whole god thing for over 20 years. Found out I was praying to imaginary sky people when it became obvious to me that there is no god, and that the whole god thing is nonsense because there is no evidence to substantiate the god claim.

9. Nah, it's his USE of religion as an excuse for his mental problems that annoys me
There is such a thing as mental health care. Blaming Jesus for one's own socio-pathic habits is just nasty.

16. also as an excuse for his intellectual laziness
Rather than focussing on the issues surrounding a problem to determine the best solution, to claim he received divine guidance is simple avoiding the hard work of a decider.

21. Any person who is even slightly religious
has to know bush can't have a religious bone in his body. He used religion to try to win elections and to try to push his presidency.

Any man who has done the things he has done can not under any circumstance be religious...the one main thing, starting that war in Iraq. All the rest of the things including letting all those people die in New Orleans just adds to the total. He is a devil's spawn and there is no getting around it.

25. Bill Sammon's book
I watched this guy on C-Span this morning. I have C-Span on
speed dial and still couldn't get in. As with everything in
this administration things that are up are down, black is
white, wrong is right. They have taken the book 1984 and
followed it to the letter. If Bush is a Christian, I'm the
Son of Sam. I guess putting our children and grandchildren
into slavery for generations to come to pay for an illegal war
with a country that had done nothing to us and leave it laying
in ruins for centuries, then withholding medical treatment to
the unfortunate ones who went to do his bidding is Christian?
I think not.

28. I don't care a bit about his religion, or religious affiliation
I care about "God" telling him to bomb Iran/Iraq. You know, the voices he is hearing in his head. However, I don't want him to force his religion on me.

36. voices in his head
You know my sister in law hears voices in her head and when
she does, we have her hospitalized until she gets back on her
medication. Perhaps that's what we need to do to Shrub,
perhaps he's bi-polar. Irregardless, his visions of grandeur
are costing an awful lot of lives.

29. No, what drives me crazy about his "religion" is that it's only for show and for votes.
If he truly lived as the Bible says Christ lived, I'd have no problem. It's this RW Evangelical, homophobic, rich-get-richer, never saw a war he didn't like BULLSHIT they CALL "religion" that drives me straight up the wall.

Not religion stupid - he doesn't practice what he preaches. Remember the "compassionate conservative" meme? The man seems to intentionally act in ways completely opposite of what comes out of his mouth.
