House Repuke anti-Muslim bigotry
starkly portrayed:

Twenty percent of Republicans vote ‘present’ on Ramadan resolution
By Jackie Kucinich
October 03, 2007
Forty-one Republicans, more than 20 percent of the caucus, and one Democrat voted “present” on a resolution recognizing the commencement of Ramadan on Tuesday.

The 42 lawmakers make up more than 10 percent of the members voting on the resolution. There were zero “no” votes, and 14 members did not vote.

The resolution recognized “the Islamic faith as one of the great religions of the world,” rejected “hatred, bigotry and violence directed against Muslims, both in the United States and worldwide” and “ Muslims in the United States and across the globe who have privately and publicly rejected interpretations and movements of Islam that justify and encourage hatred, violence and terror.”

Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.) dismissed the resolution as political correctness gone too far.

2. What it says is that Tancredo is a complete tool and I'll be glad
when he's out of government. What a black eye for our state.

3. Yeah, but he wasn't alone
They didn't have enough guts to vote no, but that's what they were really saying.

4. That's all true, but
Tancredo looms large in my state so he always springs first to mind when this kind of thing surfaces.

5. Hello!
Christianity is the one and only valid religion, period. To recognize any other religion, or lack of religion, is PC at best, and heretical at worst. :sarcasm:

6. If they would vote the same way on a resolution like this no matter
what religion was involved, then I'd have no complaints. I'm a little skeptical that that would be the case, however...

7. Are you kidding?
Most of these creeps are America-is-a-Christian-nation types, and I guarantee they've voted for resolutions praising Christians and Jews.

8. Not kidding at all - "little skeptical" was tongue-in-cheek, however
What I really meant was "a lot skeptical."
