$456,788,648,508. What's in YOUR Wallet?
The War In Iraq Costs
$456,788,648,508 and still ticking every second of every day.

Instead, we could have insured 273,526,136 children for one year.
10,429,932 children in my state of Pennsylvania alone. What about yours?

It could have bought 7,916,257 additional public school teachers for one year.
5,861 additional teachers in the nearest major city in my state. Your county or city?

We could have built 4,112,970 additional public housing units for those in most dire need-
156,833 such housing units in my state.

Instead, we could have paid for 60,502,477 children to attend a year of Head Start.

Instead, we could have provided a staggering 22,144,386 students four-year scholarships at public universities. We could have elected to educate and innoculate ourselves in far greater future numbers against our own public ignorance of science, political science, economics and the history of political tyrannies. We could be curing fatal diseases. We could solving our nation's and the world's energy problems.

Instead---

$150 billion here for blood and oil. $150 billion there for blood and oil-- Pretty soon it all adds up to real money.

Just not for your children or my children, or Iraq's children. Just not for us.

3. Hunger in the United States.
Combined food "need" and actual hunger- 15% in 2004.

$150 billion would feed a lot of American and Iraqi families and children, for a very decent time span. Foisting "democracy" on the physically famished is hard work.

7. I think your figure is quite low
He wants $190 billion just for the next year.

This doesn't count all the equipment that will have to be replaced, the medical care for wounded vets, and I don't even want to count the damages we owe Iraqis whose country we have destroyed.

10. And 40 cents of that in income tax dollars goes to military spending, past and present.
