How much longer until the American public quits taking this and revolts?
Everything from the stolen 2000 election to Blackwater. There comes a day when people need to revolt. Has that day come for you?

1. Not sure
but it's going to be an AMAZING DAY when it happens

The Political, Corporate, & Financial Elite don't think we are capable of it...

I Think They're Wrong!!!

2. Explain "revolt". When we protest they don't listen. When we harangue our
representatives they don't listen. When we threaten to withdraw our support they don't listen.

I'm ready to revolt (my bumper sticker for the past two years: Stop bitching. Start a revolution.) but I sincerely don't know how we do that.

So how DO we do that? WHAT do we do?

10. I can think of what would happen if we did . . .
138 million of us could rise up, abandon our livelihoods, financial situation be damned, and storm the White House and the homes of the uber-wealthy plutocrats like Lee Raymond, Dick Cheney, Larry Ellison, the China Mart Family, etc. The nation as well as the entire world's economy (especially our major trading partners, THANKS to said rich people, China and India) would be thrown into mass upheaval. Thousands upon thousands of us can get nuked and dusted by Blackwater, button-pusher Cheney and the police, all of whom would protect the interests of the "betters". Those that succeed somehow in getting past them and onto the homes of the rich and fascist will find them either suicided or fled to Paraguay. We wouldn't have a nation's capital because it'd be radiated or blood-drenched, as would our major cities.

And then what happens?

Would someone in the population know how to rebuild everything from scratch again? How long would that take? What sort of government would arise? What would stop it from being as predatory as the last one? How do we know that the same cycle of exploitation/unfairness/economic inequality wouldn't rear it's ugly head the second time around?

A "blood in the streets" vision would have consequences none of us could even imagine. You think you're dealing with a Nixonesque bunch here? Those guys are long, LONG gone. This is an authoritarian by any means necessary corporatocracy now. They couldn't care less about our voice. They couldn't care LESS about OUR future; they only care about THEIRS. Time value of money models and mercenary economics are how they own and operate. 3-4 million people around the world were in the street protesting the war in 2003. They went to occupy anyway.

At least Nixon, shitty of a president as he was, had a sense of country and legacy. These people don't care about popularity. They never have.

When we elected a democratic congress to stop funding this war, that it is somehow OUR fault that they instead gave the Failure Fuhrer blank checks?

When I voice my opinion in protest in DC, it's my fault for not being disobedient enough to get an arrest record and a felony tacked to my ass?

We TRIED caring. I guess we failed because we chose to go through life trying simply to pay our bills and raise our children right, which is difficult enough as it is. I guess we failed because the US isn't passionate enough to want to turn DC into a gorewash. Frog-march politicians and you still have the corporations, the people that REALLY run this country.

Who deals with THEM? Are they gonna be burned at the stake or forced to abandon their greedy tendencies?

3. I predict January 2009.
Not because of the inauguration.

Because that's when all TV stations must STOP broadcasting analog signals and only broadcast digital signals.

Take an American's TV away from them, if they can't afford a digital set, then you'll have a revolution. Seriously.

The Revolution WILL NOT BE TELEVISED.

4. .
"There is a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can't take part; you can't even passively take part, and you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop. And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all."

6. Answer: Never
Look around friend, what do you see? I see a lot of people who exist to buy more stuff. Walk through downtown or a mall, look at all the terribly overweight people linign up to buy (on credit) lots of shit they don't need (but think they do).

No, revolt will mess things up. The masses are comfortable. Plenty to eat and when you feel down you can go buy more shit.

The American people are in a stupor. Nothing will snap them out of it, they are a sea of Teri Shiavos.

8. very sad, that people are turning a blind eye to everything
Edited on Wed Oct-03-07 08:32 AM by alyce douglas
they will "wake" up when something personally affects them. So sad that each day that goes on our COUNTRY continues to be taken away from us by these thugs and more of our troops are being killed, I will not roll over for them and neither is the world.

Someone said to me "Americans are gutless and our bellies are too full", I would love to prove this person wrong.

15. That may have been more applicable in the past, but these days I see more
people who exist to buy food and clothes for their families and medicine to keep them alive. Myself included. My "entertainment" is also my lifeline. In addition to my basic bills of rent and utilities, my other expense is my internet connection. I have a TV which gets two channels, no cable. I don't go to movies. I rarely go out to eat.

And from personal experience, when I had gobs of money (due to my dad's death) I just kept buying and buying and buying thinking with each purchase that THAT would be the one that filled the hole in my heart, that would make me feel okay and happy again. Maybe it's a symptom with our people, too -- with the same motivation and yearning.

We might be in a stupor because we feel suffocated, we're terrified and can't face it. We feel helpless. A huge percentage of our population is on the precipice of horrors we can't even fathom.

I'm not alone in my situation and more and more are joining me daily. So although SOME people may be comfortable, the MASSES definitely aren't.

13. Unfortunately, "revolt" has been trademarked by a popular body spray company, so we can't use it.
Lawyers suggest we try "stern expression of dissatisfaction." No one owns it yet.

14. The frogs dont yet know they've been boiled.
...And as long as they dont keep up with the news, Or worse, watch Fox, they still think we're generally okay. Republicans ARE less popular, even here in the Wide-Stance state
Anyone who is vexxed comforts themselves that we can get rid of a corrupt administration by electing someone else.
Boiled frogs dont know that elections have already been stolen, because the didnt hear it on the news.

21. If it goes to that...
It would sadly become the Second Civil War. I doubt nukes would be involved in this. More than likely the leaders in other countries would just laugh at this. Are you willing to make that sacrifice if there is such a civil war?
