...but when will they get around to doing the people's business? Sure, it's entertaining to hear them battle over vital issues like which newspaper ad was most offensive, or which radio personality goes too far, but that's a damned poor reflection on the nation and its representatives. Bread and circuses of the most juvenile and childish variety. Notwithstanding that all the grandstanding is about folks exercising their first amendment rights to begin with.
(Breathless indignation) "He said this! Shame! Censure!"
"But wait! They said that! Outrageous! Censure!"
"What he said was worse!"
"Was not!"
"Was too!"
Meanwhile, the war goes on and innocent people are murdered in the thousands, our children's prosperity is squandered to fund war crimes and profit corporate vultures, and the U.S. continues to blunder toward its decline and fall.
I'm getting so sick of petty partisanship-- not just partisanship, but cheap pettiness that no longer even pretends to have any dignity. Both parties are responsible for this, and both appear to participate zealously-- the people's REAL business is hard and getting harder, but childish squabbling is easy and it keeps the constituents entertained.
