Bush wants to completely ELIMINATE the Community Services Block Grant
Icehead's budget for 2008 calls for the elimination of core funding of local resources for our nation's neediest communities. The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) funds low-income community resources in almost every county nationwide.

Also up for a deep cut (40%) is the Weatherization Assistance Program and a 15% cut in Low Income Home Energy Assistance because, after all, we have to "build churches and schools" in Iraq, not help our citizenry keep warm. Matter of fact, as our overseas spending grows, creating an unimaginable deficit, our own domestic spending is being decimated. The Queen Mother Barbara will probably opine that "this will work out very well for people", but I fear for our fellow citizens who are least able to fend for themselves or fight to keep these invaluable benefits.

A careful review of this heartless, unAmerican budget shows a rejection of programs which are meant for retirees on fixed incomes and crucial programs for low-income workers.

SHAME on George W. Bush and SHAME on the Republic party.

"Like I care."

1. He Has No Heart
No decent leader of such a great country as ours could ever allow other countries benefit before his own country and yet he does this all the time.

2. He ought to be ashamed.
The next President is going to be left a real mess to deal with. Bush got a healthy, stable economy and a very impressive surplus. He's completely destroyed the infrastructure and the next President won't have any money left in the Treasury to deal with the growing list of problems. It's really criminal what this administration has done to this country.

9,176 low-income participants in community action employment initiatives were unemployed and obtained a job.

9,114 low-income participants obtained pre-employment skills/competencies required for employment and received a training program certificate or diploma.

13,734 low-income participants obtained care for a child or other dependent in order to acquire or maintain employment.

49,229 low-income participants enrolled in telephone lifeline and/or energy discounts with the assistance of the agency.

Goal #2: Conditions in which low-income people lives are improved

21,575 Safe and affordable housing units in the community were preserved or improved through construction, weatherization or rehabilitation achieved by community action activity.

10. This is a crime but I am assuming the idiot did this deliberately so
he can call the Democrats big spenders when they fix it. This is something we can do as we have the purse strings.
