Damn, I wasted my 1000th Post arguing with a Dentist

I just wanted to express my deep gratitude to DU, a site which I was so fortunate to find in early 2003. Yes, it has taken me nearly five years to accrue 1,000 posts. It has been such an enormous relief to have a place like this to share the major political events of the past half decade with like minds, and to feel (for the most part) understood, tolerated and validated. That includes the intense frustrations, depressions, disappointments, but also the hope. I've been enlightened, educated, had my mind changed here, been helped and calmed and reassured.

Democratic Underground is the first site I check in the morning, and the last site I check at night. Like so many others here, I spent that entire week waiting for a Fitzgerald indictment hitting the refresh button every few seconds, as well as that horrific election night when Kerry lost.

I can say with all honesty that this has been, by a wide margin, the most personally important website that I have ever found. There is no website I've felt more loyalty towards, and no website I've returned to more frequently in moments of deep despair. We have been through a lot of traumas, and some victories together. We will win in the end.

Agree, Disagree--you are all awesome.

But congrats. I share your feelings. I would not have my sanity. And on many occasions I would be falling for part of the RW party line - the little glimpses of Fox news that I take in definitely go spinning around in my head like ear worms. And often the Fox ear worms are lies. (Not all Fox news is false - the sports, the weather, etc.)

May thing turn around so that there is more of the hope that you mention.
