Poll question: Did you read the Assault on Reason by Al Gore
Edited on Fri Sep-28-07 12:20 PM by LSK
It just seems to me that many of the lessons from that book have been lost or ignored by many posters in GD. Attacks have been simplistic and childish. Kneejerking goes on constantly. There is so much focus on a candidates latest quote but not his real policies and plans.

I just wonder how many people actually read that book.

I am really frustrated with this forum. When I came here 4 years ago there was a lot more in depth discussion and now everything seems so simplistic and reactionary.

1. It's a hard book for me to read
I have been reading it for some time now. Usually I tear through books of this size in short order. But barely a page goes by in Gore's book that does not force me to put the book down and gather myself. I have my own theories and his tie very neatly in with mine. Unfortunately I do not currently share the hope he seems to hold on to. I don't know that a democracy can still function in this broken nation. So each page stabs me in the heart and I have to set it down from time to time.

2. yes it was a difficult read at times
At other times I felt like he was repeating a Randi Rhodes show. Now it turns out he listens to her often.

3. I'm about 3/4 of the way through it.
Excellent book. It's a blueprint for how to turn things around in this country.

Run, Al, Run!!!

4. It's why I would trust him more now than I did in the past.

He has moved towards the anti-corruption, open government wing of the Democratic party and away from the wing he belonged to as Clinton's VP.

I hope he throws in for 2008.
