Email spammers are getting dumber.
This is amazingly stupid.

I got this in my box this morning. I know that banks and credit card companies don't do this kind of business by email, but I had to peek at the text because the subject, "Your Visa Credit Card Status = Declined !" was just too funny.

Here it is -- the brilliant email telling me why my Visa had been declined:

 Whoops. Got their scam wires crossed.

6. My brother is a big time herpetologist.
He keeps all manner of reptiles, nearly all of them were pets at one time and then given up by the owners. He had several poisonous snakes before he had a child, and the massasauga was stunningly beautiful.

2. I got an email
supposedly from a bank that I don't have an account with, never have had an account with, in a city in my state that I have never lived in. They wanted my personal info, SS # etc, to verify if their records were correct, I can't believe that anyone would be dumb enough to fall for that.

3. I have received 3 of those in the last week or so
Edited on Fri Sep-28-07 10:27 AM by proud2Blib
One was from a bank here in my area that no longer exists. It merged 3 or 4 years ago with another bank and dropped its name.

5. I get phone calls like that one
I can't believe anybody's dumb enough to fall for those, either.

They must be, or the scams wouldn't be tried.

I guess we know where Stupid got his votes: scammers and scammed.

4. My favorite ones are those with so many grammatical
mistakes and weird and/or mis-spellings, that you just know they're oh-so-fake. And the mistakes are often really hilarious. One, in particular, cracks me up every time I see it. I keep getting emails in my gmail account that scream that it's the absolute last chance for me to claim the $1,500 I've been "granted", and it's their last "attemption" to notify me to do so. Attemption? ROFLMAO! I realize not everyone grew up with two English teachers like I did, but come ON! Even functionally illiterate people should know that's not in any way a word, who the hell has ever even heard of it?

I keep getting warnings from PayPay about them needing to verify all of my personal information on my account due to "recent suspicious activity" on the account. Problem for them is that I don't have a paypal account and, therefore, no recent activity. LOL!

It appears that the more desperate they get, the stupider they get.

7. The creepy ones are those that are absolutely perfect.
The bank logo is correct. They know to call me by my middle name. They have a few other snippets of personal. :scared:

9. "PHISHING" works enough to make it 'worth' their efforts. Sad and despicable.
They're not going after the sharpest knives in the drawer ... often the elderly.
