Iran's Nuclear Weapon Program
If Iran gets a nuclear weapon what would they do with it?

If they drop it on Israel , Israel has enough nuclear weapons to turn their entire country into a radioactive wasteland ...And the Iranians will most likely kill the people they are trying to help; the Palestinians...

They can't drop it on us because they lack an effective delivery system and we also could turn their entire country into a radioactive wasteland , except unlike Israel we would have thousands and thousands left over...

If they drop it on their neighbors , most of whom are allied with the U S , the U S will use nuclear weapons on them...

Unless I am missing something the power of having nuclear weapons lies in the threat of having them; not in using them...

8. Me Neither...
What are two or three nukes going to do when your adversary has two to four hundred?

3. Iran probably wants the bomb the same reason North Korea has the bomb: Deterrence.
Deterrence from an assault by a much more powerful adversary in the form of the US government. Cold War doctrine asserts the ideal purpose of nuclear weapons is to act first as a deterrence and second as a weapon of mass destruction. If deterrence fails, the nation is placed into a use-them-or-lose-them situation or else face the real possibility of those weapons falling into the hands of the attacking nation.

5. Don't You Need Tactical Nukes Or Strategic Nukes For Actual Deterrence?

7. That's the long-term goal. First, you must demonstrate that...
you can build these weapons, the next step would be to refine the designs to increase the yield or force of the bomb and decrease the size of the bomb. If small enough, the bomb can be planted inside the head compartment of a ballistic missile. Hell, if you want to, even the biggest, most primitive bomb designs can be dropped from a plane skipping the process of miniaturization for use on ballistic missiles. All you need is a civilian airliner converted to carry the bomb. Many civilian airliners fly over the Persian Gulf, including Iranian airliners.

9. Maybe I'm Missing Something...
Edited on Wed Sep-26-07 01:26 PM by DemocratSinceBirth
The Israelis have a relatively sophisticated nuclear program... They , allegedly, have a triad system like us...With land based, sea based, and air based nuclear capabilities...

All the Iranians would have is a couple bombs... Given Israel's small size that all that's needed but it would be mutually assured destruction...

I once read a quote from a mullah that all it would take is six nuclear bombs to destroy Israel ,but Israel would also take its adversary to the grave with it...

I really don't understand Israel's fear unless it is "our enemies are so crazy they will risk killing ALL of themselves to kill all of us"...
