Good conservatives sure to pissed by a LTTE in today's paper
Printed in New Orleans Times Picayune regarding david vitter trying to give YOUR TAX DOLLARS to religious zealots so they can force their beliefs in public schools. Letter writer opines:

- (vitter fucking around with whores) "Now he is in cahoots with creationists who can only reinforce the idea that if Louisiana isn't corrupt, ITS OVERRUN BY BACKWOODS ILLITERATES. Does't public education in this state suffer enough without david vitter's help."

Oh My! I so look forward to the responses from the state's backwoods illiterates.

3. Awesome!
I can't stand the way creationists are making inroads into education.
When I taught HS biology, I was required to throw a bone to knuckleheads.
I just asked, "How many of you go to church?" Being a small, redneck town,
everyone raised their hands. I said, "Good. Then you know that story.
No use repeating it. Now you'll hear what science has to say."

7. I would have loved to teach you
After a year of dealing with kids who wouldn't answer questions
on tests because it conflicted with their creationist beliefs,
I gave it up. I just couldn't take it.

There's one thing that sticks with me to this day. In the
advanced bio class, I drove the students pretty hard. Toward
the end of the semester, I overheard one girl telling her friend,
"I watched NOVA last night and it was the first time I understood
what they were talking about." Ahhhhh. Music.

8. Indeed it is
Pure music it's a shame that it was an advanced class, still you may have planted a seed and never known it.

9. Maybe
But I'm not counting on it. The advanced class intended to go
to college which is why I drove them pretty hard. One girl
in the advanced class was in tears because she flunked a test
by pretty much answering questions with, "God did it" and
"it was caused by the flood". I told her that any leeway I
provided isn't required at college level, so she'd better
get used to it.

In the required bio class I corrected grammer on their
essays and tests. They got marked off for it too which
provoked indignant, "This isn't English class!" To which
I answered, "What language are you speaking?"

I also made them pronounce scientific words to me in order
to pass one test.

So, I wasn't the favorite teacher in the required bio class.
I don't know if any seeds were planted there.
