* Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn spent most of the party guarding her daughter, Mary Morgan Ketchel’s shell bin. This is something never seen before: a sitting congresswoman protecting a pile of stinky empty oyster shells, with a big bunny attacked to a long stick which she waved as a talisman. It was a riot. She worked it: at the end, when the judges called an end to shell collecting, Blackburn was still seen trying to sneak boxes of shells into her daughter’s bin.

18. Is there some reason to attack a family member of that woman
Sorry, this is just wrong. IMO Romney's sons became eligible for this sort of thing when they joined his campaign, but I sure am against tracking down the kids of despised congresspeople and harassing them if they aren't involved in their parent's political life.

26. Well, I'm looking at it from this angle
I would hate to see my kids sent anonymous mail from the other side based on what I do politically.

And why waste time attacking this kid instead of his mother? What will it accomplish? Is anyone sending him reasoned, suasive arguments against the war, or just flooding his in-box with recruitment applications? Better to spend spare time writing to msnbc to applaud Shuster's interview. Just my opinion.

33. There is much irony in your argument..
Why did Marsha waste time attacking an ad? What did it accomplish? Better to spend her time trying to figure out how to get her constituents kids out of Iraq before any more of them get killed in a pointless war based on greed.

Maybe people using the same stupid, worthless tactics against her will get her attention next time? No, I doubt it, she is as ignorant and stupid as they come. She injects kool-aid into her veins daily.

But are you saying that anyone who signs on to politics should expect their kids to be castigated for their parents' politics? Even if they are not involved in their parents' political life?

45. If you actively promote warfare...
...you should be unsurprised when your young, able-bodied, healthy family members are pointedly asked why they aren't fighting in the war.

I propose a Federal law requiring the able-bodied sons and daughters of Congressmen and -women who are of military service age (up past age 50 these days, it seems) to serve in any active combat zoze that our lawmakers create. I further propose that those persons, the progeny of the members of Congress, be the very first to enter such a zone.

That, and only that, would end our momentary zeal for preemptive warfare.

35. Oh, I didn't suggest leaving her alone. She is responsible for her
actions, not her son or daughter. My son is not responsible for my actions and should not be held accountable for what I do or don't do.

(Maybe we should see if she has pets. This could get interesting.)

48. Yes, but is it fair
to send anonymous mail to said offspring, who may or may not agree with his mom and who in any case is not involved in shaping the country's policies?

or is it better to send these inquiries to his clueless mother, who IS the culpable party?

Is this a case of the sins of the fathers -- or in this case mothers -- shall be visited upon the sons?

Surely some enterprising reporter could simply pick up the phone and ask if he supports Mommy's War. If he doesn't, that could be publicized, thereby embarrassing Mommy Congresscritter. If he does support the war, I think we are entitled to ask why he isn't serving. Sound fair?

The 'pubs have plenty of vulnerability on matters of policy. There's no need to be petty and vindictive, nor does the voting public find that sort of thing endearing.
