Police Find Swastika Cut Into Acres Of N.J. Cornfield

Police Find Swastika Cut Into Acres Of N.J. Cornfield
Swastika In Same Area As Others Found 8 Years Ago

Back behind the towering corn is a message that can only be seen from the air.

It is one of the most infamous symbols of hate -- a swastika -- cut into acres of cornfields in Washington Township, Mercer County.

A New Jersey State Police helicopter on a routine maintenance mission made the discovery Friday.

The swastika was located off of Hankins Road, near where similar swastikas were found in July 1998 and June 1999.

No arrests were made in the previous cases.

Investigators found that the most recent swastika appeared to have been hand-cut and covered an area of several acres.

"This should be in the past, and we should have learned from our mistakes, and to bring up something that brings back such awful memories, I think, is disgusting," said Joe Pica, whose property is one of many that border the fields.

Monday, neighbors said they hope it was kids who didn't know any better.

2. Putting this into
the context of numerous other ugly incidents from recent years, it seems that the hateful people in our society feel that there is a new comfort level which allows them to spread their messages of hatred. That hatred is not new, and cannot be properly attributed as the exclusive property of the Bush-Cheney administration. But the administration has called upon the darker impulses of this country, and the swastika is a clear answer to that call.

4. It could be teen-agers.
I'm not sure that the idea of teens with too much time on their hands is "likely," however. There are a number of reasons, including but not limited to: (a) This is not the first event of this nature in the area, which indicates it is likely a person or persons with more than a casual interest in such things; and (b) Teen "pranks" that rank on this level of stupidity are generally associated with an excessive consumption of alcohol. This project involves cutting a rather large design that covers several acres, and doing so in a straight pattern with right angles. I assume that investigators will be looking for some teens and young adults who are under the influence of an older guru of hatred.

6. I seem to remember a fair amount of Klan and...
other such activity down in those parts a few years ago.

Methinks things haven't changed all that much since then.

10. Honestly not to dismiss the horrible airborne hate crime
but does this strike anyone else as a slowest news day ever kind of story. Not to mention showing the crop circle (okay swastika) in the news really gives satisfaction to those idiots that made it.

Makes you wonder if this was an "accicent"..

US MILITARY
SWASTIKA SHAPED BUILDING
author: Voxfux
They are getting bolder and bolder -
putting it right in our faces.
The US Air Force building in
Coronado near San Diego
is unmistakably a Nazi Swastika.

The forest swastika was a
patch of carefully arranged larch trees covering a 60 yard square area of
pine forest near Zernikow, Germany.
The reason behind the
planting of the trees is unclear,
but it has been suggested that
it was laid out in 1937 by locals
to prove their loyalty after a
businessman in the area was
denounced and sent to a
concentration camp by the
Nazi Party for listening to the BBC,
or that a zealous forester
convinced local Hitler Youth
members to plant the trees in commemoration of
Adolf Hitler's birthday.
