The tropics are on steriods...or maybe warm water, not sure.
Another PSA for those in hurricane prone areas that the season is far from done and with the developing La Nina in the Pacific it could cause an above average October and November. There are three areas of interest in the Atlantic and they all could be depressions by tomorrow...if not sooner.

Areas to watch:

3. It is a tad misleading.
It isn't a depression yet just a very large wave. It doesn't have a whole lot of deep convection.

5. Whew. . (I guess)
People who live on barrier beach islands in the Atlantic are a little, um, high strung, on these issues..

7. It's not so much the size, but the rotation and development of a distinct eye.
If you're on an island, you'll have at least a couple of days' warning. Be ready to evacuate if you have to, but don't worry too much yet.

9. Rotation has been a problem with the big wave.
It is so close to the equator (7 or 8 degrees north) that it is struggling to feel the effects of the Coriolis effect which helps the low to "spin" if you will.

10. Actually the water isn't that much above normal.
Edited on Mon Sep-24-07 03:25 PM by RL3AO

Most of the Atlantic is within 1/2 degree of normal. Plus that shows the developing La Nina (natural cooling of the Pacific).
