The California Plan to stop bad doctors from practicing medicine

Ostensibly, California's legalization of medical marijuana was designed to assist sick people. However, according to 60 Minutes 9/23/07, there are doctors who have set up practices devoted to writing prescriptions for medical marijuana to treat whatever ails you, including having sore feet after wearing high heels! Many are upset at this since it has the effect of legalizing marijuana use (at least under state law.) Consider the plus side though; doctors can sit in their office and write 4 prescriptions an hour at $175 a pop with very limited overhead. That could be $1,4000,000 a year! And that's if the doctor takes 15 minutes a patient! A fast worker could get those numbers way up!

The result: anybody who practicing medicine for the money can set up shop writing marijuana prescriptions. Only physicians interested in treating the sick and injured would remain .
