Has the environment created by Bush, his party and
their fundamentalist churches facilitated the racism seen in Jena?

1. It sure hasn't discouraged it
this is the natural consequence of the "southern strategy" introduced by tricky dick in the 60's and 70's. And it has empowered bigots to think they'll get a free ride for any kind of shit they want to pull.

2. No.
The racism has always been there. What it has done is given permission to display the hatred.

3. Good point but the non-stop anti-minority messages
reinforce that hatred.

4. Racists feel more open to display their
hate and act on it when someone like Bush is in office

6. When In Office
No racial injustice occured in this country when Lyndon Johnson was President, when Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush I, & Clinton were presidents. Bet this was the "White" tree back to FDR's day.

7. I wouldn't say that at all
Edited on Sun Sep-23-07 01:08 AM by Solly Mack
and I didn't say that at all

what I did say was that Joe and Jane Hater feel more free to be open and direct about their racism
( to borrow a word - emboldened)under Presidents that foster such thinking...I was not talking about the systemic racial injustice that can be found throughout America's justice system

That said...considering the manner in which Bush has directed his DOJ, yeah...I feel quite correct in saying Bush has indeed contributed to an increase in racial injustice in the justice system...and not just there.. (Katrina)

and yes..I'm betting that "white's only" tree goes back a long time too
