Perhaps pondering the price of freedom is too painful. After all, the USA Patriot Act II is said to be permanent. There is no point in burdening readers with the real reasons America's Finest are dying in Iraq. Most people will agree - they usually die to profit the idle rich.
Instead, of analyzing the deeper reasons our sons, daughters, friends and neighbors are dying by the droves, let's strap on their combat boots for a moment.
I still remember the oath we took to defend our Constitution. It is a safe assumption that modern soldiers still go into battle to defend freedom. Apparently, in their hearts, no price is too high when it comes to defending civil liberties.
Are we willing to do even the most mundane tasks to restore or preserve the rights our troops defend?
I live in a bastion of conservative thinking (Alabama) and realize that none of my representatives will do anything toward restoring the 4th Amendment but I'm considering the wording of a letter to them anyway.
Is anyone out there willing to offer some suggestions on the best ways to get such a letter read?
For those of you that are unfamiliar with the Act, here's a link to The Electronic Frontiers Foundation site:
