1. I know I'm going to get creamed for this
but were many of the same people taking part in the Jean rally also at the anti-war rallies as well? We have no way of knowing, of course, but if the answer is "no" then I have to ask why not?

2. Because not all people protesting the Jena 6 are as passionate about stopping the war
And not all people passionate about stopping the war are as passionate about the Jena 6.

Also you have folks like myself who would love to have gone to both, but due to time, travel and money I could only attend the DC march.

3. Many people pick their battles
It would have been nice to see some of the anti-war protesters at Jena also.

5. The Jena protest seems only to be
happening in Louisiana. Anti-war rallies were worldwide. It seems to me that would be problematic in itself.

6. There were also local rallies
It wouldn't be problematic because there are American anti-war protestors. How many of them were participating in any of the Jena rallies?

7. This is silly and I won't continue to engage.
My post was meant to encourage people to think about activism on issues IN ADDITION TO injustices happening in their own back yard.

8. It's not silly and I do understanf what you're saying but you don't see my point
It works both ways.

This is not a difficult(or silly) concept.

As I said, people choose their battles. Many of those that marched in Jena actually are involved in activism that is not just limited to injustices in their own back yard.

9. Totally! If you don't protest the war, you shouldn't protest ANYTHING!
What pure, unadulterated genius.

10. One might also ask...
How many of the white people who go to anti-war rallies will come out to protest on issues that are identified as high priorities by communities of color?

See this thread:
DU we have any protesters in Jena today?

24 hours, not one response.

12. What the hell business is it of yours?
People are under no obligation to attend anti-war rallies. Especially not anti-war rallies sponsored by those ANSWER fuckwits.
