I'm about to get flamed, heavily, but I've sat back and seen dozens and dozens of threads on General Betrayus nonsense. To me that's calling someone a traitor to the country, which equates to a lack of patriotism. I don't understand it. Do I think the Senate should be wasting its time voting on some special interest ad? NO! Do I agree with what Moveon said in the ad. No.

2. Maybe it would be a good idea to do a little research
on the behavior of the man in the uniform.

You know, wearing the uniform doesn't exempt you from ethical behavior.

5. Patriotism isn't the issue being raised.

MoveOn was trying to get across that Gen. Petraeus has not been completely forthright in his reports in the past since they seem to align more with the Bush war ideology rather than the actual facts. Here's a link where you can see the ad and draw your own conclusions: https://pol.moveon.org/petraeus.html To put it bluntly, he lied his ass off to Congress, just as Powell, another political hack did at the UN some 4 years ago. I see it as a betrayal, but don't question their patriotism. That word is meaningless to me since those who are considered "patriots" these days don't have much regard for The Constitution or the truth.

7. Let's say it again, clearly. He LIED his ass off.
And he did that on the backs of our people. MoveOn was actually too gentle with this asshole.

6. Treacherous to the government or treacherous to the people???
In a democracy the government pledges allegiance to the people. In a dictatorship, the people pledge allegiance to the government. Petraus represents the government and we live in an alleged democracy.

Bush meister for his almost illegal use of Petraeus - it will explain a lot of things.

There are two separate issues here - one is in freedom of speech. And MoveOn.org has bascially been told that large organizations of a political nature have NO RIGHT to freely discuss a person in the news if that person wears a uniform and if that person is defending the PResident with his lying words.

Second issue: the military is not supposed to be politicized. Olbermann does a better job of discussing this than I could ever do - Here is the link to YouTUbe
