Does anyone else besides me think half the reason Bush picked Petraeus
Edited on Thu Sep-20-07 10:43 PM by 1932
was to rope Democrats into calling him "Betray-us"?

I'd like to know if they changed the pronunciation of his name to help things along. Any Greeks out there? Is the pronunciation really PET-tray-us, rather than puh-TRAY-us?

2. No. Nonsense. Stop the silly "conspiracy" BS and focus on what's really going on.
All this crazy crap that he did it because of this or that dilutes the real -REAL- shit that's going on.

Read Palast. et al.

11. Right. Except that I think the Republicans are going crazy with this because it helps THEM
distract Democrats from what's going on.

In fact, it's so effective (or at least has so much potential) that I can't believe they weren't aware of the possibilites until after MoveOn.org sent their ad out.

4. I'm pretty sure he picked him,
to quote Admiral Fallon, because he is "an ass kissing little chickenshit"

10. You want some more? I think Republican consultants came up with "ABB"
or at least knew they'd hit the jackpot the first time they heard a Democrat say it, because they knew that if they could get Democrats to spend more time imaging themselves as against something rather than for something, Repubilcans would win.

14. Can I ask you a question?
Do you not see the George Formanesque Rumble-in-the-Jungle qualities of Democrats throwing wild "ABB" and "General Betray-us" punches?

17. I just think that things that have such big payoffs don't really just fall in your lap.

I'm sure someone who gets paid a lot of money was sitting at a desk in an expensive suit and realized that this was a possiblity and had a plan ready to roll out if it happened, and was going to do eveything possible to make it happen.

19. I think he always picks people he can ruin. He can't tolerate having someone look good.
Bush specializes in getting people to fail. It is how he personally measures his own success.
