142. These stupid bastards wouldn't pass a condemn W resolution
for massive war crimes, but hell yeah, they'll be all bipartisan for condemning an organization that SPEAKS THE TRUTH.

This is more unbelieveable than all the mountains of other unbelievable stuff from these criminals and brain dead Senators.

At least Boxer didn't vote for it. and 3 cheers for Pete Stark.

The Senate has real business to attend to. Maybe the Democrats who voted yes are aware that supporting MoveOn is not a good political move with the consituency that put them in office. Maybe you're making a mountain out of a molehill.

98. Take heart wienerdoggie...
some of us actually do get it that two dozen Senators voted for this silly thing knowing how the home crowd feels. Nothing to do with "spinelessness" just how the game is played.

It's all political theater, and the few who take it all that seriously and getting all het up about it don't know enough to help the cause anyway.

They could hurt it though. Gotta watch out for the ignorant rushing into a delicate situation and screwing things up even more.

To express the sense of the Senate that General David H. Petraeus, Commanding General, Multi-National Force-Iraq, deserves the full support of the Senate and strongly condemn personal attacks on the honor and integrity of General Petraeus and all members of the United States Armed Forces.

And, just for fun, the First Amendment to the Constitution: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

128. Consider the rarified number that take notice of this...
It's hard to pick who wins and loses.

One scenario: MoveOn gains more donors and support. The senate looks stupid, and people are turned off by the pageantry, and a few more people take notice and voice. The senate takes a step closer to adjust to reality. :)

OK, so that's optimistic.

Somebody should point out that no one challenged the content of the body copy.

on denouncing the soldiers who used the name 'Betray-Us' long before Move-on did.

And the point that I was making was that this will hurt the Dems, not Move-On. It will, of course, hurt some Dems more then others. Reading the roll call will be very telling.

and Dems will help GOPers stick it to their own party and the American people.

Political symbolism which says Democratic Senators would rather play nice with GOPers than play nice with their own party.

Most search engine users have absolute zero chance of seeing this page if

This is simply a fact those using obscenity on DU should be aware of, that is all.

Their little pointy heads just about 'splode when they're forced to read about gay relationships or evolution or people using birth control and fucking for non-procreative purposes. That's WHY they're republicans, silly! So they can "cleanse" the filth of the pagan wasteland and leave it pure, sexless and chaste, like that weird ending with Don Johnson in "a Boy and his dog".

They recoil from a hearty FUCK like nobody's bizness. You'll get my fuck when you pry it from my cold, dead, er, hand.

THAT is the poll figure that counts with them. We live in a country that is of the corporations, by the corporations, and for the corporations. The people are being asked to step aside now! It's just a matter of time before the voting systems are permanently rigged to prevent any control by us at all.

So much for free speech in this country. Sadly, this is but a foreshadowing of other more important bills they'll roll on, like re-upping the funding for the Iraq war.

It will be interesting to see who kowtowed to the 'Pugs on this one.

And Dems wonder why people perceive less and less of a difference between them and the 'Pugs.

Would the Rethugs follow suit with their MO for everything else and fillibuster it?

If they did, it would look pretty stupid. And if they didn't, it would basically label them as hypocrites for what they tried to pull on the Democrats when they were in power! It would be a nice Hobson's choice to expose them for they hypcorites they are!

Perhaps Reid should pull something like that out of his hat!

Elizabeth Edwards criticizes MoveOn.org ad
By TONY LEYS
REGISTER STAFF WRITER

September 14, 2007

MoveOn.org should not have labeled Gen. David Petraeus “General Betray Us” in a controversial newspaper ad, Elizabeth Edwards said in Des Moines Friday.

“Someone who’s spent their life in the military doesn’t deserve ‘General Betray Us,’” said Edwards, wife of Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards.

Elizabeth Edwards spoke in an interview after a Des Moines campaign appearance. She noted that her father was a career naval officer, and she grew up on Navy bases, so she said she respects military service.

MoveOn.org is a liberal, national group that supports many of the stances that John Edwards has taken in his campaign, including criticism of the Iraq war. The group ran a full-page ad in the New York Times this week, taking a shot at Petraeus, who is the top military leader in Iraq. The ad ran on the day the general was to testify to Congress about progress he sees in Iraq. Its headline sparked angry protest from Republicans, who said it smeared an honorable man.

94. Complicity
This is why the DLC is dangerous. For all their claims of supposedly wanting to help Democrats, they employ people like Marshall Wittman who specifically try to undermine the Democratic Party, even if it means he has to publicly defecate out the most rank and easily-debunkable lies. They reguarly give credence to the right wing's agenda and its worst, most unsupportable lies. They are the real force that tries to make sure this country is a one party state and that Democrats never really challenge the Republicans in a serious way.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/david-sirota/why-the-dlc-is-so-dangero_b_13640.html

Without a doubt, the DLC is the most fundamentalist organization within the caucus, the most ideologically rigid, and the most destructive to the progressive cause.

100. The DLCers...the republican infilTRAITORS to the Dem party, are
leading the whole party now, and they are funded by their republican masters.

It's all about buying of the legislators. As long as $1.00 buys one vote in this country, we, the people, will never have a say in our government. The corporations that are robbing this country blind have bought up all the votes, own the voting machines, own the politicians, own the media, own the health care, own the military, own the courts.

We need to dump the whole lot of them. It may be too late for 2008, but another few years of this bullshit, and there are going to be riots in the streets.

And now, we're going to get stuck with the rest of the family, because they are so damned cozy with rupert murdock & that gang, that they're getting all the free press in the world.
