Hands up, who here's actually been hit with a taser?
I can raise my hand. And I can say it sucks royally.

I'd like to hear from someone with a little data on the subject. Because in my opinion, and because I don't have a heart condition, I'd rather be hit with a taser than a baton to the head. Because right now I can type this and spell and tie my own shoes and what-not.

A good thunking to the skull can end that, I understand. Can anyone comment from a position of authority on blows to the head (insert matcom joke here)?

1. I think most people arguing against tasers
are arguing that the cops shouldn't be able to stop public disturbances. I don't know how many are literally arguing for head-thumping instead.

6. I am against excessive force.
Tasers are just the newest toy in the police weapon kit, and as we aren't quite sure yet just how excessive their force is, we are confused when they are deployed. The police have demonstrated a willingness to taser first and make excuses later at the slightest provocation. That is just wrong.

7. Oh, of course.
Everyone "arguing against tasers" (I guess you refer to those who aren't satisfied with the stellar performance of the police in apprehending Meyer) is motivated solely by their irrational, hateful desire to see the cops hog-tied while communist agents and degenerate drug-taking unAmericans run riot, raping Charles Bronsons' daughter and destroying the great civilization of the white man.

12. Nah.
A lot of them are saying the cops should just tackle and dogpile on people.

As if that's better for people with heart conditions.

13. There is a difference though.
Any high voltage applied to the body can create an electrical disturbance that can create problems later on. if not immediately.

2. It shouldn't be a choice between taser and being hit on the head for asking a question. n/t

5. it wasn't for asking a question
it was for thrashing around when they tried to detain him.

They shouldn't have tasered him, imo, but let's not distort what happened.

8. I'm with Enrique here
If I'm getting arrested I'll do whatever it takes to NOT get hit-become passive and sometimes you can even get out of an arrest or have charges NOT be filed by being cooperative-this kid I'm sorry to say brought a lot of this on himself

3. I've been clubbed
I would agree with opponents that tasers are now being used along with the billy club. Hasn't replaced the club, just supplemented it.

in the wall outlet.

Woke up 5 feet away. ;-)
