Assholes have rights.
Being an asshole isn't a crime - nor should it be.

OJ should get a fair trial, and he shouldn't be subjected to harassment by the police.

Kerry's taser guy has a right to ask questions in a public forum - and be a whiny prima donna while he's doing it, too.

Larry Craig has a right to stand up in front of God & everybody and say "I'm not gay," and act like everyone should believe him.

Because once the authorities are able arrest & remove people for being assholes, they'll next want to do the same to those who are merely inconvenient, then the bothersome, then the nosy. Then they'll want to get rid of the liberals, the queers and the freaks.

If you succumb to these totalitarian tendencies to just *get* the asshole - for revenge, or sadistic glee, or just because - then you've taken a big step toward allowing the state to dispose of your OWN freedom.

Nobody ever said being an American was easy.

53. Yes let us make our great nation drama queen free!
If we work together, shoulder to shoulder, obeying and conforming, we can rid this nation of all of the drama queens, all of the attention whores, all of those who ask inconvenient questions, like 'why did you send my kid to be killed in iraq?'. We can separate them all from the good people who never disrupt and are never rude and never wear pink and get our nation back on the right track.

8. I read that first hand account
The writer "felt" this and that about the guy. I'm not moved by the first hand account. I've been to demonstrations where people were acting disruptive and didn't get my panties in a wad. Even when the national guardsman started lobbing tear gas.

That first hand account person needs to get some spine and stop whining. He never got up and ran away did he? Gimme a break. He wasn't that scared.

consequently it couldn't have been a political demonstration because ...

Don't ask for actual logic. It seems that having an actual intention to ask questions that are never asked, and also arranging to have the event video-taped is proof positive of something, that something being, after a lot of invective that involves 'asshole' jackass, drama queen, attention whore', that the police using excessive and potentially lethal force is quite appropriate.

13. So, would you give someone the 'right' to stand up to the Chimp....
and ask him about the lies he's told the American public for the past 6+ years? If he took longer than his 'alloted' time to phrase his questions, would you favor tasering him?

If this person was tasered or escorted out of a Chimpy speech, would you have the same response?

I haven't seen any videos since my dial-up takes forever to show videos, but when has the Chimp even allowed such a person to get to that stage of questioning?

I, for one, feel such questions deserve answers, no matter what their political persuasion.

I'm curious, What if the questioner had been a freeper asking Kerry about his vietnam service
or asking Hillary Clinton about colluding in the cover up of Vince Foster's "murder", or had been asking Barack Obama about his upbringing as a "muslim" etc. And add in that this person barged into the room and tried to take over the questioning, interrupting someone else. Would I like to see him shut down? Damn straight I would.

25. Reverend Yearwood was tackled in the halls of Congress. And now this....
This is not an isolated case, as if I needed to even point it out.

I want to say I see a horrible pattern forming here. But it formed a long time ago.

Again, I need to redirect people's attention back to the drug war. As a young guy I remember being fearful. Then I read about the massive cash flow into the police coffers. Then the SWAT style attacks on our homes. Guys in black suits slithering down ropes suspended by helicopters, with M16's, scaring neighbors. For a plant.

But now it's just words. Is this the new war on drugs? The War on Words?

The last I saw, he had been essentially attacked. There's always more than one side to every story. I'll admit I haven't been paying close enough attention. That sure didn't seem like an appropriate response to someone waiting in a line to get into Congress. I am sure I missed some critical part of the story.

Breaking the rules isn't a free speech issue. Removing someone who is being intentionally disruptive is not a free speech issue. An asshole is free to yell fire in a crowded theater, but the asshole better be willing to accept the punishment.

Rules, remember those?

I can't believe Kerry didn't at least ask the police to leave that man alone.
A lot of people here are referring to him as a "kid", but he is 21 years old.
He's old enough to be serving in the military.

I can't believe the number of people here that defended what the campus police did to him.
It really opened my eyes about some people here who claim to be liberals.
If this incident would have taken place with a right-wing Senator at the podium, I doubt there would be that many people here defending the campus police.
