Randi Rhodes said something very disturbing today

Randi Rhodes said Kerry nodded to the cops to intervene??? :wtf: I saw NO indication that this happened and I don't know whey the hell Randi would say something so slanderous?

Did anyone see Kerry nod to the cops to get this kid? If not then why would Randi say this?

While I don't think Kerry handled himself very good at all, what Randi said is just as bad as the kind of lies you hear from Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh. Come on Randi, you should be above this kind of thing.

1. She's making shit up.
I've watched several videos of this incident and I didn't see Kerry nodding to any damn cops.

8. I saw several videos too
But I don't remember any where they even showed Kerry at all. All the ones I saw showed only the kid.

13. Not only did he not "nod" to the cops, he said "hold on, let me answer the question"
or words to that effect. (It might have been, "It's okay, let me answer the question". I'm not up to watching the damn thing again to verify it.)

5. Kerry didn't know what was happening; he didn't nod to anyone.

Very irresponsible for Randi to say such a thing. Others have said he should have intervened....how? Rushed down off the stage and jumped in the middle of the mess? I don't think so. The entire situation escalated quickly.

6. I heard the show today and I didn't hear her say that Kerry gave the nod but she did
indicate that someone gave the 'nod'...

Of course, I wasn't taking notes and driving into town while listening.

Perhaps Randi's clarification is in order.

9. You could be right
I just remember being stunned at what she said and I was sure she was referring to JK. But you never know, perhaps she was talking about the cops. Is there a way we can see the transcript?

11. I don't think they do transcripts of the show. Perhaps the show is
available for replay on the web but I'm back on dial-up and don't even bother to look for bandwidth demanding web features.

15. There have been several reports
that one of the videos and I don't know which one and I haven't seen it BUT what the report was that someone sitting in the corner - drew his finger across his neck to indicate cut the mic - and at least one report I heard of this said that the guy was with Kerry....maybe that is what Randi was talking about....

18. I still think she was referring to Kerry
Edited on Tue Sep-18-07 11:28 PM by Quixote1818
I am not 100% sure, but what I thought she said was something like "....and a Senator signals for the Police to intervene." I am almost sure she said "Senator" suggesting this person with power gave the ok for the police to make their move.

While I am not 100% sure I clearly felt she was talking about "Senator Kerry" signaling to the cops. She had ripped on Kerry for ten minutes prior to that line. She was attacking Kerry relentlessly and seemed to suggest much of it was his fault.

10. Alot of media people will be railing about this one.
They are concerned about free speech rights on a daily basis, so I think this tasering incident really threw them for a loop. The good news is that some clueless people are actually figuring out that as Americans in the US, they can't be certain their rights wil be protected, and that they won't get hurt if they try to exercise them. This is what we've come to, thanks :sarcasm: to Bushco.

17. She is lying
This jerk was removed at the request of the students who organized the event

Members of the student group sponsoring the event summoned UF police to escort Meyer out, according to a police statement. At first, students can be heard cheering as he is asked to leave.

But Meyer refused to leave, police said.

When officers tried escorting him, he resisted, and officers only partially got handcuffs on him, according to police.

By then, officers had moved Meyer to the back of the auditorium, where he was on the floor, Orlando said. Officers told him to stop resisting, and when he still refused, they used the stun gun, Orlando said. On the video, he can be heard screaming at that point.
