Hunt for Steve Fossett Virtually Over

18 September 2007, Tuesday

The hunt for record-breaking US aviator and adventurer Steve Fossett came to a virtual standstill after Nevada state police searched in vain 98% of the ground that needed to be covered, AFP reported.

Two weeks after the adventurer's plane disappeared in the Nevada wilderness there are only two grounded aircraft on standby and "four or five" military helicopters left in the hunt, Nevada State police spokesman Chuck Allen told AFP

1. Four or Five military helicopters....left in the hunt..
Keep in mind these helicopters were there on the first day.....looking for 1 man who happens to be a billionaire....

but when a whole city drowns and the victims are poor....the helicopters didn't come for days.....

What a sad America we live in the year 2007............

(This is not a dig at Steve Fosset)

3. Ironic to be a daring adventurer
and then die on not much more than a surveying expedition. :-(

4. Unfortunately that's what happens with adventurers sometimes

they forget basic saftey measures....filing a flight plan....keeping a safe distance from Stingrays....going hiking and not having proper gear...some are lucky and survive another day....some are not so lucky.

5. My Dad is a flight instructor and files a flight plan when he gives lessons
or whenever he flies.
