Anyone watching K'Ville on FOX?
Because I saw two things I truly hated then tuned out.

I mean, aside from the rap music. It starts with a desperately concerned black cop asking another black cop for something clean and dry to put on a flood victim's wounded leg. The other black cop gets in the squad car, guns the motor and drives away, leaving him there.

Two years later, same concerned black cop, protecting the neighborhood with love and strict determination, sees a girl drive up in a shiny car (new?) and she brags it cost her two FEMA checks. The girl, of course, is black. That's when I checked out. Did I do the show an injustice?

1. I don't know; I haven't seen it
I am not inclined to. But from what I have read (mainly in Douglas Brinkley's book in which he followed the events of the storm and its aftermath in minute detail) many, many NO and vicinity cops deserted their posts. I am talking hundreds perhaps. So the portrayal of that event may be based on something real or at least some similar event.

The other thing I don't know about. I know that there were reports of fraud but my guess is most fraud was done by the contractors andd subcontractors taking advantage of no oversight on the part of the government. There may have been individual fraud but I don't know how widespread it was.

3. Which really wasn't my question.
I wanted to know if the racist tone alters, or if I was mistaken about what the PROGRAM was trying to show.

10. I thought it was interesting. It's a pilot episode.
I think you didn't give it a chance and watch the whole hour.

The plot is convoluted and has a lot of surprises in it. And I am no fan of cop shows or lawyer shows, as I spent my entire working career in the legal field. I had to watch and listen closely to catch things, and there were still some things I wasn't sure about.

It's a pilot. There are two cops, one black and one white, and it's not obvious who's doing what, or who is good or bad. If you'd watched the whole hour, you would have seen some rich white people getting arrested, and a police chief saying that the rich peoples' influence had to do with "contributions to a particular political party".

And there are former mercenaries for "Blackriver" in Iraq. Duhh.

My opinion is that based on the pilot episode, it has a lot of promise due to the complexity of the story and the plot twists.

I don't have cable so I can't watch Fox news even if I wanted to. I am aware of its bias.

I do watch the Simpsons and sometimes the other Sunday night cartoons.

IRONIC TWIST: There was a VISA commercial urging people to go to New Orleans and spend money.
