4. Currencies are traded in the futures markets...
I don't trade futures so I can't help more than that. I know they are available from my service (which is not Ameritrade). Also, you might be able to trade against a Euro Index.. that would take some additional research as well. I know there are two Dow Jones EURO indexes ( http://www.dj.com/Pressroom/PressReleases/Other/US/2005/0913_US_DowJonesIndexes_2203.htm ).

Sorry I could not be more helpful...

5. You wanna buy 'em to use, hedge, or trade 'em? You can...
buy them from any large bank, or you can open a Euro account at various European banks, often through their US branches.

To get past the fees and get them cheap, you have to have a lot of money and know "people." Same if you want to trade on the currency exchanges.

7. Why in the world would you want to buy Euros with dollars right now?
The smart thing to do would to buy dollars with Euros!

You can buy futures, but that is way out of anything I know about. I just know how to go to the bank and change pounds into Euros or dollars and vice versa.

8. In 2004, I established a market position in Euros through a Missouri Bank.
My value of my Euro account is not high enough to garner interest. So far, the investment has not panned out well because of the following reasons: (i) there has been no interest accrual; and (ii) at the time I made my purchase, the Euro had hit a record high against the dollar, and then it proceeded to lose ground. Also, when considering whether to set up a foreign currency account as I did when I made my investment in Euros, remember that the bank charges a commission of about 2.5% when you purchase, and then again when you convert back to dollars.
