Sally Fields, how low can they go in their rush to join Faux in the gutter?

3. There's a BIG diff - the fascists gained control of CNN and the credibility
it earned when it was a real news network. Most people are still unaware that House of Saud is a major shareholder in AOL-TIME/Warner/CNN and has been for some time now.

FOX never had credibility.

That's why CNN is by far more dangerous to democracy than FOX ever could be.

Edited on Mon Sep-17-07 07:24 AM by SoCalDem
There are folks alive today who never saw cnn when it was still "CNN"..

Shame on Ted Turner for letting it slip away from him :grr:

6. Turner got played BIGTIME by TIME/Warner.
Steve Case has long been BFEE - notice that AOL had the same type of accounting as Enron - it just slipped under the radar.

19. Same reason certain democrats are more dangerous in office.
Many people think that the republicans are the only party that partake in the corrupt activities of our country, and many will close their eyes once a democrat is in office. Dangerous!

7. AP is doing it, too. Look here
"LOS ANGELES (AP) - Twenty-two years after her immortal Oscar speech, the Fox network really did NOT like Sally Field.

Accepting her Emmy on Sunday night for lead actress in a drama series ("Brothers and Sisters"), Field stumbled halfway through, lost her train of thought, screeched at the audience to stop applauding so she could finish talking - and then was bleeped by Fox censors as she stammered through an anti-war rant.

"And, let's face it, if the mothers ruled the war, there would be no (expletive) wars in the first place," Field said, but Fox cut away for much of her comment.

Backstage, Field told reporters that she wanted to recognize mothers who wait for their sons to come home from war. She added, however, that she "didn't have a political agenda.""

12. Uh, where's the lie?
That is a correct description of what happened, although I wouldn't have chosen the word "screeched".

Swiftboating is out and out lying. People need to understand the difference.

8. My advice is to turn the bastards off
I did it when they aired dr sanja kuptas hit piece on MM and I haven't missed it one bit. In fact I am right proud of myself for having done it and am sticking with it. In fact I will send them an email to remind them that this ole boy shut their shit off for good until they show they deserve my attention again. Thats what I suggest to all here to do.
Oh and btw I haven't missed a thing either

10. Now I'm Waiting For The MoveOn Connection
Of course CNN avoids the censoring of Ms Field's free speech, but what else do you expect from a corporate media completely detached from the rest of the real world.

Dare I say, I hope they do nothing but cover OJ today...seems like the kool-aid is out in massive quantities today.

20. Funny, I just watched CNN a few minutes ago and they covered the matter pretty well
They covered the ceremonies, the showed the on-air coverage shown by FOX, THEN they showed what FOX viewers didn't see (including the comment in question)and they indicated that FOX executives had not responded to inquiries from CNN regarding the incident.

Given that you're talking about 5 seconds of lost visual/sound (at best) I'd say that CNN gave it more than adequate coverage given what's out there at present esp. since two other people received the same treatment for off color remarks and some profanity.

and some black woman who were making it sound like Sally was whacked out or something. It was about 7 a.m EDT give or take fifteen minutes.

11. What do you expect...
just another "short-term controversy"/"manufactured outrage" to distract the people from the real outrages going on right under their noses.

Very sophisticated and dangerous type of propaganda we are living under these days.

As usual, Tom Tomorrow is spot on with the message in his latest toon...

You would think I'd "get over it" by now, but it still shocks me.

16. Actually, I think her getting bleeped is getting her statement out to more people.
If she said damned instead of Goddamned, it wouldn't have been bleeped and no body would have noticed. Now, it's all over the news.
