It's the Supreme Court, stupid.
Edited on Sun Sep-16-07 09:59 AM by cali
The Supreme Court should be enough reason to vote dem no matter which of our candidates gets the nomination. None of them will appoint anything like a Scalia or Scalito. You're much more likely to see someone in the mold of Breyer or Ginsburg. And there WILL be retirements in the next 4 years. And they will be retirements of the more liberal/moderate Justices. Can you imagine what will happen if a repuke president gets that magical fifth vote, or a sixth vote, in the vein of Scalia/Thomas/Alito.

We will be so screwed. Goodbye choice. Goodbye more civil liberties. Goodbye democracy.

Not voting for a dem in 2008 shouldn't be an option for anyone who cares about this country.

4. It should be...but it won't be
The Imperial Subjects of Amerika cannot think deeply enough (the vast, vast majority of them/us, that it) to make a decision based on anything so esoteric.

And if you would interpret this overall mental weakness as the greatest national weakness a Free People, then I would be compelled to point out

The Imperial Subjects of Amerika are not free.

5. I'm specifically targeting those dems
who say they won't vote dem if Hillary is the nominee. There seem to be more than a few right here at DU.

6. I thought that in 2000 as well. It will take years to undue the fiasco
that was begun in 2000. Two oilmen in the White House and SCOTUS appointments by them. I just don't understand how thinking people couldn't see the folly of letting * anywhere near the WH.

8. It's also the Attorney General
Which of our candidates will apppoint an AG who will prosecute war criminals and investigate 911 properly?

Which of our candidates will restore the Presidency to the executive/administrative post that it was intended as? We got rid of kings for a reason.

9. That's important too
but Supreme Court Justice are LIFE appointments. The Congress, working with a good AG can bring accountability. And any dem president is going to make a better AG appointment than any repuke.
