before the election, I went to hear Congressman Murtha speak.
Loads of people listened to him...but unfortunately they weren't really "listening"...
He talked about redeployment of troops and he spoke about better strategies, but at that time, he did not talk about ending the war at all.
However, most of the people present wanted to hear..."end the war"...and instead of listening to what Murtha was saying...they basically assumed that his redeployment spiel was what they wanted to hear.
Now I am not bashing Murtha, HOWEVER...ever since then I have carefully listened to our representatives who talk about the war and there is a big difference I think between redeployment and ending the war.
I think redeployment means they pull the majority of troops out...(to appease the public)...but that strategic strikes and heavy handed policies will still exist in Iraq because we still want that oil and we want to monitor that region. It also means that at any time they see fit...the troops may go back in...based on new strategies.
It is entirely different from ending the war, and letting the Iraqi people figure out the government they want.
Now this is just my opinion, however I am very wary of the "redeployment" talk..
Anyone...else get this feeling?
(not if I don't respond right away..I am making breakfast...for the little B's and Mr. B..)
