"So, General, I guess you CAN'T prosecute the war after all?" -- Questions I DIDN'T hear asked today
(Question that should have been asked when Petraeus said he didn't know what he'd tell the president if he asked how long the war would have to go on)
"I keep hearing safety situation on the one hand and national reconciliation on the other. Which is it, General: a diplomatic problem or a military problem?"
"You keep talking about our 'strategy,' General. Exactly what IS our strategy?"
"How will you know we've "succeeded"? How do you define success and how will you recognize it?"
Damn straight, there is no good way out of Iraq which is why anyone with an ounce of sense would never have gone in. Saddam was about the best leader we would ever be able to find for Iraq. Sorry Cheney couldn't get Saddam to enrich him enough but now we have really screwed up. Bin Laden is laughing his ass off. So now, we are spending dollars that could have actually been used for security at home and to get Al Queada on a war we can NEVER frigging win. Why can't anyone just admit that this was a total f*** up?
