1. Irony on line one.

President Putin would be an expert in trying to centralize power. Yes, our leaders at present are wrong in their ways, but Putin is no better, if not even worse.

2. The whole idea of a sole superpower

always seemed false to me. I thought it was domestic propaganda, perhaps designed to acclimate the populace to the idea that's really no more than an exaggerated sense of narcissistic self-importance.

I actually think Putin makes some sage criticisms. His sentence about democracy seems to strike a deeply harmonious note with all the election fraud that's been proved here on DU, but officially, at least in domestic public statements, denied and/or ignored and/or minimalized. Perhaps he has his own centralization problems, but lets not forget that we're in and unwinnable Iraq war right now, saber rattling with more troops, et al.

There are lots of powers in the world. It's a smaller world all the time.

Let them speak and listen to what they say. Isn't that part of diplomacy? It really is the only hope.
