Just found this on MSNBC...how convenient.

Cheney calls Libby 'a strong friend & supporter'. But I'm outta here, pal.

by Michael Isikoff
Feb. 9, 2007 - It’s crunch time for Scooter Libby’s defense team.

~~ snip ~~On Monday, lawyers for the vice president’s former chief of staff will start presenting their defense. But they will have to make some quick decisions. One of their potential star witnesses—Dick Cheney—is due to leave the country for a 10-day trip to Asia on Feb. 19.

So conveniently or not, the vice president’s loyalty to his former top aide may now run smack up against the imperatives of U.S. foreign relations. The vice president recently called Libby "a strong friend and supporter." But Cheney already has meetings scheduled with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Australian Prime Minister John Howard, according to a recent press release from his office that has gotten virtually no media attention.

2. This is a non-starter story.
First of all, the defense has 4 days to use on Cheney if they chose to do so. Second, if they were really planning to call him they would have had it scheduled with the advance knowledge that he was going on his trip. I doubt that they would really call him now, based on the way the government's case went.

3. Hehe
Couldn't resist. Will the trial have to be delayed until he gets back to testify? Right! What a bunch! After all, Scooter can't possibly expect Darth to put the important business of the country aside for the sake of a matter he was hardly interested in.
