Who would you rather run against - Fred or Rudy?
Giuliani scares me more as a president and for some dumb reason I can't explain, he has crossover appeal to independents. The media also loves to kiss his ass.

But I think Fred, with the backing of the Rove machine, will run a dirtier campaign and nothing will be too low for him. And the guy's an asshole. Just watch his video to Michael Moore.

So I dunno. They're both formidable and dangerous.
In a dream world, I wish they'd nominate Cheney.

3. Thompson is the "tapped" man
But I'd rather face him than Giuli. That fake Hero myth is working well for him among the gullible

4. Please nominate Fred!
It will backfire for the GOP worse than a cheap musket rifle. This grizzled actor/lobbyist is the quintessential poster boy of what moderate America hates bout Washington today. They are fed up with these dirty politicians fueling hate and divisive campaigns. Thompson will make Cheney look like Bob Ross in comparison.

5. Either one of them is going to have multiple "Cheney moments . . ."
Because they're cut from the same cloth. Lest we forget, they're both incredible fucking assholes (e.g., demonstrably mean-spirited) in a way that even GW Bush was able to conceal during his campaigns. This will come out, repeatedly, during the general.

Rudy might snag some unthoughtful "undecideds" (UUs) because of his supposed competence in running NYC. Thompson might be sufficiently charming in carefully crafted ads to sweep up the UUs by doing his TV president imitation.

But a smart campaign (and I'm not talking a Swiftboat clone) should be able to shred them both. They're phony, they're authoritarian, and they have a decomposing albatross hanging around their necks.

6. Giuliani Ground Zero.
His "time at Ground Zero" remark could be analagous to "invented the internet".

8. They might cancel each other out & catapult Mitt.
Aside from Mitt's Mormon negative, he has the least scandal, so far. This situation is still wide open on both parties. I loath both, actually. Repubs, more so, of course.

7. rather run against fred
as was pointed out earlier today on another thread...fred is just spewing the bushco line, and
i don't think that's a viable product anymore...also fred is to national politics what the monkees were to working bands (no offense to any monkees fans) the wingers whooping it for fred have no idea what he stands for...he hasn't really said anything...so they make up what they want to believe he stands for.
also he served what....2 terms in the senate, then bailed to do his acting gig...so far he hasn't had to answer any questions or face anybody that wasn't already on his side....i'm not a fan of rudy, and i think he's an opportunist....but he is tough, and i think he'll give as good as he gets...where i think fred will fold up like a lawn chair

9. I agree both could be formidable....
I have a hunch that Fred may be the more formidable. He is, after all, a professional actor. By definition, an actor can play a personality other than his/her own convincingly.

I think the word is out....Thompson is the man for the Reps.

I think Obama would be the perfect opponent to Thompson. He could delve into male/female stereotypes with Hillary and basically shrug her into being uppity bitch while he is the good ol guy. I really think he would have more difficulty with Obama, and ironically because he is black. I think he would be more uptight against a black, and lose some of his "cool". I think Edwards vs Thompson would be hillarious. And I think Edwards would win. In my view, Thompson might have a chance against Hillary but he had better pray that she will be the nominee, because he is toast otherwise.
