Ho Hum! Nukes on a B52 today--- no biggie---let's talk about the Craig toilet paper scandal!
From Larry Johnson:

Why the hubbub over a B-52 taking off from a B-52 base in Minot, North Dakota and subsequently landing at a B-52 base in Barksdale, Louisiana? That’s like getting excited if you see a postal worker in uniform walking out of a post office. And how does someone watching a B-52 land identify the cruise missiles as nukes? It just does not make sense.

So I called a old friend and retired B-52 pilot and asked him. What he told me offers one compelling case of circumstantial evidence. My buddy, let’s call him Jack D. Ripper, reminded me that the only times you put weapons on a plane is when they are on alert or if you are tasked to move the weapons to a specific site.

Then he told me something I had not heard before.

Barksdale Air Force Base is being used as a jumping off point for Middle East operations. Gee, why would we want cruise missile nukes at Barksdale Air Force Base. Can’t imagine we would need to use them in Iraq. Why would we want to preposition nuclear weapons at a base conducting Middle East operations?

His final point was to observe that someone on the inside obviously leaked the info that the planes were carrying nukes. A B-52 landing at Barksdale is a non-event. A B-52 landing with nukes. That is something else.

Now maybe there is an innocent explanation for this? I can’t think of one. What is certain is that the pilots of this plane did not just make a last minute decision to strap on some nukes and take them for a joy ride. We need some tough questions and clear answers. What the hell is going on? Did someone at Barksdale try to indirectly warn the American people that the Bush Administration is staging nukes for Iran? I don’t know, but it is a question worth asking.

People are still reading about this.I read this article already, plus other articles, plus the threads speculating on why/how this happened, plus a few Craig threads.

If you don't like them, hide them.

You spend half your time in flame wars in the damn sports forum, and you're complaining about what people find important?

zombied-out and obsessed with the scandalous hyped-up Craig story.:eyes:
I dunno, must be too much fucking Fluoride pumped in our water system these days,
it's time to wake up to what's important. This story about the Nukes is important.

But as if to prove me right, the OP is down in the sports forum arguing over which college football conference is better, the PAC-10 or the SEC.For him to act like we're not concerned enough while he goes and prattles on about about football is the height of hypocrisy.I merely pointed that out.

And on edit - Note that for how upset the OP was the only post that has gotten a response was mine.

27. Dude....
it's the sports forum.... the sports forum. This is GD....

My point is that this should be the biggest story in America today.... It wasn't meant to blast DUers, but all of America for being blind to the obvious. It was my way to shake my head at the indifference of the MSM and Moran America.

But no----you come into this thread to start a ridiculous fight for what? Because I smack talk in the er sports forum....

You had no reason to come into this thread other than to start a flamer between you and me. We had a small peace offering for the last couple of months.... but I see that I'm going have to put you back in the same class as Operationminddick.

34. Actually, there have been dozens of threads on this, many more than on Craig
And all of them repeating the same paranoia and unsubstantiated speculation.

Normally I like Larry Johnson, but I think he's playing to the tin-foil-hatters this time.

30. because passion
can make reason difficult and reason is needed in times such as these... for example, was this a planted saber rattling story? was this really an accident? is it really a move toward Iran? until we know more, we should not go running into the night screaming ... panic and fear will not help the situation. that is all i am saying:)

31. I think it could be any of the above.
It certainly appears that the Bush/Cheney dictatorship are preparing to attack Iran, though they'd be mad to do so and madder still to do it with nukes. The current information set does not contain much to indicate that they've completely lost their minds--they're very, very stupid and they're extremely rigid ideologues (a scary combo)--but so far they haven't done anything to indicate that they would commit crimes against humanity on the scale of a nuclear attack against Iran. I hope it's saber-rattling; that would explain the leak (and perhaps there's some score-settling involved there, too).

20. It's definitely an odd story. Public acknowledgement of the movement
of nuclear weapons from place to place is an extreme rarity, in my experience. So Johnson's right--somebody leaked it. For a reason.

32. Hmm - I did not know that Barksdale was a staging area for ME ops.
That definately puts a different twist on the story. To be honest, when I first heard about it, I was mildly concerned, but then I lived through the Cold War when you had planes flying around with nukes. You just assumed that a USAF bomber had nukes on board, whether it did or not. And since I lived in New Jersey, just across the Hudson River from New York City we also had several missle installations - one just up the road a ways next to a drive-in theater that my family patronized - for protecting the city. But the information on Barksdale now has me worried. That, and September 11th is coming up.
