Sen. Graham: "We have turned the corner. The winners will be the Iraqi people."

http://campaignsandelections.com/SC/articles/?ID=608

U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., predicts the Iraqi government will soon come together and there will be a breakthrough in the fighting there.

Graham just returned from a two-week tour of duty as a JAG officer, and told SCpols.com he is seeing progress in the war-torn country.

"We have turned the corner," he said. "The winners will be the Iraqi people. The losers will be Al-Qaeda and Iran."

...

Graham said he sees success there, and said this is not the time to remove troops. He feels the Iraqi government is on the verge of a "political breakthrough" and that will lead to a safer Iraq.

"The people got a taste of al-Qaeda and they don't like it," he said. "They are ready for peace."

11. No they don't.
As Nir Rosen says, Iraq has already been destroyed. The Iraqis have already lost, and simply the U.S. leaving, won't change that.

9. Is the insurgency in it's last throes?
I've heard that "turn a corner" phrase before. A few hundred times, I think.

"Last throes" hardly gets any play, though.

19. Boy is that Al guy busy...
He's all over the place causing havoc for 'merica...

It's so nice to see that Senator Graham could take out time to play Army and "serve" in Iraq for two whole weeks as a JAG officer...

I guess it's was all done so he can call his little ol' prissy self a Iraq War Vet when he hit's the stump next year...

Jesus Christ can he be any more obvious...

20. Good. That will make an excellent op-ad in the 2008 election.
I hope the rest of the Republican "moderates" are so prone to saying factually unsupportable and politically suicidal statements. And a 2 week tour of duty? How come all the other soldiers in Iraq have to stay for 15 months while this douche calls himself a Iraq War vet after 2 weeks.

Do these morons even realize they are recycling Vietnam propaganda or are they so hard-wired for bullshit they haven't noticed?

34. If al Q left Iraq today the country would be at peace.
Is that the lie that this jerk off wants Americans to buy?

Al Q is a tiny % of the problems in Iraq. The Sunnis have turned against al Q. The US Regime is giving them weapons & money to fight al Q. When al Q is defeated the Sunni Insurgency will once again turn their attention to the Shi'ite dominated Govt. & the US Occupiers with more weaponry than they had before.

Graham is full of shit!
